Yeah, so the question basically sums it up. I just don't see any of my neighbors walking their dogs as much as I do/my family does. So I was wondering if it's normal to walk a dog as much as I do.....

Your dog is lucky, most owners rarely make it once a week let alone several times a day. It does work to help calm the dog down. If you want to add to it hold him at your side and stop and make him sit periodically. Make sure he does it right beside you. It doesn't take long before they're sitting just when you stop. Then as you step forward he'll automatically start walking with you. You both will love it and all your neighbors will start asking you for dog training advice. That also is a way of having him submit dominance to you.

You are doing wonderful. My dogs would be greatful for 6 walks a week, much less 6 walks a day. The only thing I would be careful of is to make sure and don't walk if it is really, really hot outside, and if you do, make it a short walk. Also if you walk in really, really cold weather, your dog should have on a coat or sweater. I sure would not do more than 6 walks a day, that seems plenty, but I bet you tzu loves it!

Sure, this is fine. If the dog have been evaluated by a vet and doesn't have any physical problems that might not be tolerated by walking. Walk the dog as much as you can tolerate! The dog will really enjoy it. I walk my dogs twice around a 1 1/2 mile lake and then we go home but only because that is all my old knees will tolerate. My dogs are 3 mini dachshunds and sometimes people will ask if they can make it all the way around the lake and are surprised that they do it twice!

It really depends on the dog. My sister's chihuahua can barley walk a half mile, but my mutt dog and walk forever. If your dog wants to keep going let it! But if it tires out a couple miles down the road don't push it. Its good that your dogs walks so much because most people don't even walk their dogs at all!

3, 5, 6 Times a day of walking is NOT OK.. It also depend upon the period of time you two are walking. Your dogs health might suffer if it is excessive enough to burn more than what he eats/ what he can burn

Wow!! I think you are overworking your dog way to much. Your dog may like to walk a lot but have you noticed that by the end of the day she/he is really tired? Maybe you should just stick to one or two times a day not six times a day.

it depends on how far you walk! if its a block, then go for it! but you dont want to take him on a 10 mile journey!

my dog plays at a dog park for 2 hours a day, its enough excercise to keep her healthy. just think about how far youre walking.

wow! how on earth do you have that time in the day? that's great (my kelpie would love you!!).

only concerns would be the pup's age; too much strenuous walking can cause problems with puppies' bones and joints. so i'd ask the vet if your pup is old enough now for such a good workout.
