The easiest way to do this is with IP based cameras. You could watch your business at home through the internet. No problems with how to connect over the 2 miles. Where I used to work, we had IP based security cameras over 40 miles from our shop. I would recommend you use a professional service to get them installed.

There are several things that would be good for you. Some camera's have the option of remote access, so i recommend getting a camera that can do that. Also, since you are pregnant, you should get a wireless camera with the above function. If you get a wired camera, it usually comes with wires, so not additional wiring is needed. This next part may seem a little complicated, but it is doable, if you have a computer at your business, setup the remote access on the store computer and then use another remote access program, like Log Me In, see logmein.com, install that on the store computer and at your home computer. Then get a pc to tv converter, these are not that hard to find, and then hook your computer up to your home tv via the converter, and then you can watch your business from home.

You are obviously dealing with some tough crowd, because you violate one of the most important rules in any business: that is, to trust that your employees will do the best job they can.
If you don't trust them, I am not sure any amount of cameras is going to help you.
In any case, streaming video requires some serious bandwidth, and having special wires to your home is going to be very expensive. As another responder said, you will need something based on IP. If you stick with DSL, that does not give you much bandwidth, so the quality and resolution will be pretty basic.
The best solution would be to hire someone you really trust. If you do need cameras, go to a professional security service.
