I believe that God uses evolution as a tool to help us adapt to our environment. I don't believe in the whole "we came from apes" idea, but the idea that as a people we change from generation to generation as different genes are passed from parents to children. For example, over the past hundred years, small changes have been made to the genetic make up of people so that we are not the exact same group of people as our ancestors. We now have smaller mouths (can be shown by the near necesity of the removal of wisdom teeth these days where as only a hundred years ago, this procedure was not necesary for everyone) and are also generally taller. Some people would argue that this is just because of the passing of only these traits from parents to children is the only reason, but if you think about it, that is the whole idea of evolution. Small changes over a long period of time cause change within a species. And back to the point of believing in God as well, God made us with chromisomes and DNA so that we can pass on different traits to our children. If we were not able to do this, people would no longer be able to exist as a species because there would be no change in the population. I think that evolution is God's tool to ensure humanity's survival.

My father was an ordained minister and studied the Bible in a Bible Institute for 3 years. His reasoning on this issue was as follows.
http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?book_id=23&chapter=90&verse=3&end_verse=5&version=31&context=context
Psalms 90:3-5 talks about a day being like 1000 years. So, because the days may very well not have been the 24-hour days we think of now. So, it could have taken 6,000 years to develop into what we consider an evolutionary concept. Think about it, if there is a creator who designed our planet. It is very possible that he could speed up the process of evolution and make each phase last 1,000 years. You have to realize that the story of Creation was told to Moses by God several thousands of years later.
My father also believed in a different theory that explains a lot about evolution. He believed that Genesis 1:1 was the first creation. Due to the evil of mankind, God wiped out the earth and re-created it starting in Genesis 1:2. His theory is that "In the Beginning, God created the heaven and the earth" was the original creation and that after destruction, Genesis 1:2 started it over again. If that happened, it would explain a lot about why there were great beasts and a different life form that was humanoid in structure.

The first verse of the first book of the Bible doesn't say anything about ongoing change in the created universe after the initial creation. neither does anything else in the Bible. The Bible says that in the beginning God created the entire universe. I believe it. Science has provided abundant and irrefutable evidence of the many ways in which the universe has continued to evolve since it was created - geologically, chemically, and biologically. This is proven fact. Therefore I know it cannot conflict with the Word of God, properly interpreted, since truth cannot conflict with truth. And in fact, nothing science has discovered conflicts in any way with anything God has revealed through scripture. As for the minority of Christians who feel compelled to reject the plain evidence of science, I would only restate what I stated above - that no scientific truth can conflict with the Bible, PROPERLY INTERPRETED. It is obvious to me that many Christian sects interpret the Bible incorrectly. Otherwise the beliefs of the various sects would not conflict with one another, because again, truth cannot conflict with truth. Therefore, since we know that the bilical interpretations of many, if not most, Christian groups are WRONG, it is hardly surprising that some of them conflict with the obvious truths provided by science. Unfortunately, the bottom line for each of these conflicting sects is that THEIR biblical interpretations, and no-one else's, are infallible, even if they are in direct opposition to known facts. A little humility would go a long way here. Gee, after looking at the scientific evidence, I can see that evolution is an incontrovertible fact. So maybe, just maybe, Pastor Jim's biblical interpretation isn't infallible after all! But, rether than face the simple truth, they prefer to simply avoid the evidence and place their faith in Pastor Jim's guesses about the meaning of scripture - even though they contradict the biblical interpretations of Pastor Bob, right across the street.

Christianity unfortunately is the only faith on the planet that so many people confess, and yet fail at its qualifications so miserably. Worst yet, these counterfeits confessions are never scrutinized, and immediately accepted as truth? Would you believe a person boasting about being a kung fu master, and yet they have no coordination or the slightest idea of the art? This is exactly why we hear the illogical statement that "Every Christian I know does drugs, lies, steals, has pre marital sex, uses profanity etc..."
Anyways a true Christian can in no way endorse the molecules to man form of evolution (not saying micro, because that is readily observable). To believe that the earth existed for millions of years with death, disease and suffering prior to man's sin goes against the very root of the Christian doctrine. In a nutshell you are implying that man did not bring sin/death onto earth and that Jesus died for nothing, since death, disease, and suffering was around long before man sinned or even existed.

Yes there are christian evolutionists but its being justified by their limited difinition of the word. When Born again Christian say that christianity is true, the sentence does not mean to others what it means to me. Evolution has nothing to say about origin. It only try to explain after life came into existence
After all, Genesis 1:1 stand unmoved. God is the origin.

The creation story was made up while the Jews were captive in Babylon (500 BCE) to compete with the Zoroastrian creation story. I don't believe in evolution. I ACCEPT the theory of evolution. It's quite easy. God did create the world, but evolution was how it was done. A day for God is not one of our 24 hour days. There is a verse that says a day is but 10,000 years. What would be so difficult about accepting the theory of evolution and believing in the Resurrection? The two are not mutually exclusive of each other.

Actually the majority of Christians believe in evolution. Here is the Catholic position on it and they all but endorse it: http://www.catholic.com/library/Adam_Eve_and_Evolution.asp
You should give these guys some credit. They are by a long shot the largest Christian church. They have learned from their past that denying science always makes you look silly in the long run. You know there are still guys that insist the Earth is flat for the same reasons that you deny evolution.

I could explain it all day, not so sure that you are open to my point of view. Here goes... God is beyond comprehension by our human minds. We experience the spiritual, deeply, and try to express these sentiments in words. Words are a blunt and ineffective tool for expressing spiritual experiences, the closest we can get is myth and parable. Unfortunately over time myth and parable are upended for literalism and dogma. Christ came to the world as a teacher of love - to show humanity that if we can learn to respect those we fear, and love those that we despise things will be 'on earth, as it is in heaven'. That how I experience the Good News in my life.

it is authentic. Many Christians besides the undeniable fact that do no longer consider the Bible besides, no longer all Christians bash the bible in peoples faces (yet many do) you're able to be Christian and comprehend the actuality of evolution....and probably, in basic terms in line with threat settle for the two advent and evolution..and why no longer? Evolution is how God created and creates the international. Evolution is the answer to how and what, no longer why or who. There are Christians that extremely have brains, and use them, subsequently comprehend the actuality of evolution and settle for it.

I'm not Christian, but my grandfather is, and here's his reasoning:
God created everything in 6 days. However, in the bible (and he cites several passages--i don't know them, you'll have to look it up) that state that time works differently on earth than it does in heaven. So who's to say that 6 days to god wasn't thousand, millions, billions of years on earth? If this is the case, then God could have easily created everything and done so through the process of evolution.
