the fundamentalist argument. which is why we just don't listen to them. most self-respecting Christians don't listen to them either.

Because that is what defines a person a "fundamentalist." That terms dosen't just apply to Christians fundies either. All..yes ALL (even the new agers) have their fundies. In fact, it dosen't just apply to religions. Every school of thought/philosophy/ideaology etc...has its fundies.
I believe in some ways all of us are fundies about something and everyone thinks whatever they believe to be hard-core "evidence" and "facts." So really what is the difference?

sounds like Shock and Awe
"Confess now and all will be forgiven, or else!" in a germany 1940's kind of way
faith and reason should not be so opposed or like oil and water...but they are
as much as we want things to be like our fantasy, they are not
in some case you can dream and wish things into existence by planning, behavior modification, manipulation and preemption, but generally we just can't make it so by a prayer and doing nothing more
I know other fundies are fond of declarations...just say it, and it must be so!
however, if the declaration has truth and reality in it, then it becomes sharply contested

People can only offer up what they have. Input equals output. We should be able to discern better to avoid senseless arguments that are detrimental to all concerned. If we cannot edify or teach with our words, or at the most get people to think for themselves, then we all need to shut-up. Sharing is not forcing or cramming down ones throat, it is for enlightenment. Peace and Love to all and sundry.

The Honest Fundamentalist Syllogism
The Bible is 100% true
The Bible says X
Therefore, X is true. (Or therefore, I believe X)
The Dishonest Fundamentalist Syllogism

I believe X (Or X is true)
Therefore, the Bible says X

Just as there will always be poor, there will always be people who refuse to change what they have been led to believe by ancient authority. That they want others to believe the same as they is the ultimate frustration. Allow them the right to stand alone for as people we can change without pride interfering.

Argument, or debate can only begin when there is common ground upon which to debate. If there is no commonly held beliefs, then the objectivity of debate is lost.

It's a "I must have faith - my Holy Book (whatever it may be) can never be wrong so anything in reality that has evidence and may even be a scientific fact MUST be wrong anyway if I believe it goes against something in my precious outdated book that guides my life so there!"
Genius, isn't it? -_-

Can you give an example of this? Your question sounds like uninformed ranting.
