Sales tax varies from state to state, and is different in most counties, of each state. Each state has a tax base, with counties having a tax rate, as well. If you purchase a car, and pay 4%sales tax, and the county you reside, has a tax rate of 7%, you would owe 3%sales/use tax, when you registered/titled your vehicle.

Different states have different sales tax rates. Ky is 6%, so your state is 7%. If you buy out of state, then when you register the car in your state, you will have to pay any difference in sales taxes. good luck
