to those unfamiliar BSL stands for Breed Specific Legislation. It calls for the banning of all dog that fit into the large framed, large headed pit bull breed.

Rotts, Doberman, huskies, akita, american bulldog, dogo argentina, mastiffs, and many more will be considered illeagle if the ban is passed in your area.

Arm yourself with knowledge!

The bull s*** part is, african americans account for more violent crime statistically than any other race. (Not being racist just proving the ignorance of the law here), so using the logic of getting rid of a type with a loose discription would also apply to killing all black people or making it illeagle for them to breed.

This is a racist and stupid solution to a very real problem, and BSL is a specist and stupid solution to a very real problem as well.

In every area in which BSL is passed, the rate of those bitten, attacked, or killed has NOT been affected.

Britain has the harshest BSL's in the world. There, dog bites have risen. People are still attacked and disfigured or killed. It's just that now, other breeds are doing the killing.

Any legislation that doesn't identify and control dogs that truly are dangerous by how they act, as opposed to what breed they are, and doesn't legislate responsibility of dog ownership is DOOMED to fail. The reason it will fail is because it wouldn't be dealing with the root cause of the problem. Some dogs shouldn't be allowed to live, and one can't just pick a breed, because all dogs are individuals. Some dog owners are irresponsible, even rabidly stupid, and shouldn't own goldfish. This is the problem that causes people to get mauled by dogs, not certain breeds.

I totally agree with your point. Rock on!!!!

You know that it does stand for Breed Specific Legislation but some people call it slang for Bull **** Legislation-which it is. This matter is really disturbing to me. I would probably end up going to jail or killing myself if someone came and took my dog b/c of this crap. He is the best dog that I have ever had. Very respectful, curtious, gentle, smart, eargar to please, loves company of humans, snuggly, etc. My husband and I do not want kids and our pit bull and miniature pinscher are our kids-we are a family. Doesn't this crap remind you of the days when blacks weren't allowed to go into places where whites were-it makes as much since as that. Someone ends up getting hurt(the dog and or the family). IT IS RACIAL PROFILING AND IT SOLVES NOTHING!!!

I'm confused as to why you are asking what it stands for, yet you supply additional details showing you are fully aware of what BSL stands for. Obviously the legislation passed in order to protect citizens, especially people like mailmen (lol) and the youth of a community from being attacked and seriously injured or possibly killed by dogs known to be violent. Hope this helps! ;-)

I don't know much about the laws about this subject, but I agree that all dogs (that are known to be very agressive towards humans) should be illegal to own. When will they learn, you always hear about pit bulls mauling or killing someone.

Unless I am permitted to arm myself, then there should be laws to protect citizens from particularly dangerous dogs. And as far as BS, you sir are the king of that.
