As an adult (over 18, not living at home, married, have kids, etc), what do your parents do for your birthday? Do you still get presents? Do you they come over (have you over) for cake & ice cream?

When I was a child, my Mom never did anything for our birthdays, you would be lucky if she remembered. I can always remember that feeling, and I vowed that my kids would never feel that way, so I make a homemade cake and make a big deal over them, and I still do that for my 34 year old daughter. Everyone should feel special on their special Day. Happy Birthday to you whenever it is.

Well as an adult we all get together in a restaurant and yes we still get gifts but we decided to give money that way we can buy what we want and not fake that we love the present. We all agreed to 25.00 per family. No cake and ice cream just in the restaurant.

Of course we still celebrate birthdays. My uncle turned 50 in march and we still made him hit a pinata. tons of laughs. We use birthdays as an excuse to see all our loved ones and chat about everyday stuff. We get together at least twice a month. We usually bar b q outside and everyone brings something. Yes we all love getting presents.

No presents just a nice card and a phone call. When you turn forty and your parents are still alive they may want to give you a party, but having them remember you on your birthday is what really counts.

First of all for your parent you will always be their child no matter you are 18 39 or even 60 years old. as for your siblings same thing goes as you all would have grown up together. yes in my house every ones birthday is celebrated immaterial of the age , even our pet Bruno is familiar with Happy Birthday to you , and moement we start this he too comes to be around and participate in celebration( mainly his share of the cakes/sweets).
for your parents and family you are you plain and simple their child and /. brother /sister to your siblings. I too shall join with them to wish you on your birthday when ever it may be.

Milestone birthdays are acknowledged (18,21,25,30,40,etc) other than that a simple phone call with happy birthday and maybe they will pick up the tab on a meal close to the birthday.

My parents are 71 and every year my dad calls and sings Happy Birthday to me. They both give me a little money to spend on myself because I always buy for everyone else first when I shop.
LOL Dad don't sing so great but he has a ball doing it. Then he says if I keep having birthdays I will soon catch up with him.

My children, sisters and brothers either call me or send me a birthday card. My daughter in laws too. My children buy me gifts during the year for no special reason other than to show how much they love, and appreciate me. I am a lucky woman.

Small presnets, like money or a gift certificate and invite you over for Sunday dinner, cake, and ice cream and sing happy birthday is what usually happens for us.

I ALWAYS get a card from my sister and if she has extra money, I get a present. She lives in another state so I never get to see her. I always send her a present but usually not a card.
