We bought a $15 gel at the salon that litterally only lasted for 2 stylings, so that was kinda like a waste of money. His mohawk is about 3-5 inches when up, and his hair is pretty thick too. We need a good product, and some good styling tips. We cant afford to spend alot of money on a tiny little tube or tub of gel or wax that will only last for 2 stylings, we're poor college kids lol We've heard elmers glue and water works, but we're unsure of the ratio. Any clues? Thanks.

I've always heard that white (Elmer's) glue is the way to go. Not sure about the ratio, though. You may want to experiment. Maybe start with a 1:1 ratio (1 part water to 1 part glue) and go from there.

Here are a few links to look at. Looks like a lot of people recommend regular elmer's or the 'blue' elmer's school glue because it dries clear. There's also suggestions using egg whites, Rave 4x hairspray, and knox gelatin. A blow dryer seems to also be a key factor. Check 'em out!

I would try Bedhead's products. They have aproduct excpessially for Mohawks called Hard Head Mohawk Gel. It's not extremly cheap ($10 @salonsavings.com) but it works really well. My guy friends has a mohawk and he uses it.

I went to high school with a kid who used toothpaste on his and his hair always seemed to hold up just fine. If you buy the toothpaste at the dollar store it would be cheap enough.

I have heard that something called like Murry's or Murreys. Something like that is good, thats what the Sum 41 guitarist claims is the best.
