France was always a punch line when it came to international affair jokes. Now that they have a new President who is conservative, should we assume that the relationship between France and the USA to become stronger?

Chirac was a conservative too, so there is no change.

I'm french. i don't think we've been such bad allies in the past with u, american, except for the question of irak, we've got not so bad a relationship. we've been with u in afghanistan, remember?
then i don't believe there's a link between being conservative and supporting US policy. chirac was much more conservative than sarkozy is, and i don't remember chirac as having been a big us fan, uh? sarkozy likes the us and great britain, so yes maybe he'll try to make a difference.

No!! Conservatives should ALWAYS hate the French for killing their God-Appointed king! And Jews, homosexuals, mental defectives, Roman Catholics, Liberals, and everyone else in the world that does not wish to be ruled by a Fundamentalist Christian Dominion. Start liking your sworn enemies and you'll end up a liberal. WWJD

Ummm- I hate to burst your bubble but Chirac is a conservative- France has had conservative prez's for 12 years.

A conservative in France is NOT the same as a conservative in the U.S., nowadays.

France will certainly want alliances with the US businesses to help their economy to become more capitalist vs the dogged socialist chain it has been dragging for years. We shall see how they will be in a partnership, but I'm excited to see that they are going to attempt to change to a capitalist society. Sorry to the socialist here in the US. Another socialist economy coming around to the evil capitalist ways of the evil empire USA.

I've always liked France and actually compliment them because they chose NOT to follow the moron that sadly is America's president.

and you didn't like us before??, thats good to know... why? because we are not as liberal as you are, because haven't a sort of hell-like hegemony?

well... good nite .... because now liberty in france no longer exists.... its a "used to be"
