Out of curiosity, why do you use an apostrophe when you pluralize evangelist, but you don't use an apostrophe when you pluralize leader and fraud? Is there some sort of secret rule about that?

Some thing's wrong . If a Christian life was the right way and only way, people would be satisfied and happy with their lives. Most Christians live with irrational fear, the kind of fear that paralyzes. This fear has to be born from psychological problems that have come from trying to live an impossible life. No one's perfect and the Bible says we are to be perfect. Mental and emotional problems have also sprung from being controlled by others, be it clergy, the Bible or religious well meaning friends. We must wake the people up before it's too late. We will be seeing and hearing of more breakdowns within the Evangelical church. It,s inevitable. The sad once hidden life of Ted Haggard is just the beginning of the end. Too many breakdowns.

I'm not an Evangelical, nor am I a practicing Christian. That being said, every group has it's flaws. Sensationalistic headlines are not a substitute for hard facts though. How many Christians are there in the world versus how many of their "leaders" are discovered as lying frauds. Your logic can be applied to any group. The better question is, "Why do I hate Christians so much, and why do I enjoy it when one of them falters?"

This is old news.
It's similar to the few occasions that we hear how the FDA confiscated 365 kg of cocaine (worth $24 m). We don't know and therefore never hear about the many large shipments that get through. Sure, there are a few 'Christian' evangelists and leaders that are big-time hypocrites. But for each one of these, there are many more who are not.
Maybe the message is, read the Bible for yourself; don't depend on other humans for your religious instructions.

God reveals it or allows the devil to reveal it. Not too many, considering how many Christian evangelists are doing the work they are called to, are found out being lying frauds. Most of them are born again Christians, called by the Lord to the Evangelist ministry.
Look at it this way, if they are lying frauds, it will come out into the open in the devils timing, usually to affect people opinions about Christ. I bet you can count on your hand the number proven to be hypocrites & made a public example.
Ted Haggard was specially anointed as a child, but He never truly confessed Jesus Christ His Lord & Savior. He is in a pre-salvation state. He needs prayer. It has been prophecied that he is going to lead many in the gay community to Christ. One of http://www.kimclement.com prophetic message.
Ted wasn't called by Jesus to go into the evangelical ministry, because he isn't born of God Yet. Jesus calls people into the ministry when they are born of God. This is Gods plan for Ted to be in the evangelical ministry, but he jumped the gun when he got into it. Jesus Christ has to be Lord of his life first.

One must learn to distinguish between the validity and worth of the message which they deliver measured and balanced against the hypocrisies that seem to reveal them by their personal trespasses against the value of the messages that they deliver.
That they may not personally live up to the spirit and value of their messages does not necessarily decrease the truths of the message, after all, they are only messengers.
If the message is without taint or tarnish, then does it matter what moral terpitudes have been committed by the delivery boy?
Listen to the content of the message, the message could be delivered by a flea bitten dog but it won't change the message.

It is detestable. It is also important to keep in mind that it makes no sense to judge an entire religion based on the behavior of a minority of it's followers. It may seem like it's more like a majority, but I argue that it's not; it only seems so because the media needs to sell it's product. I say this as someone who is not associated with the Evangelicals at all. As a side note, it says a lot more about the Bush administration and it's inability to chose upright, qualified people to tend to its business.

Hmm. It doesn't take Haggard's actions to show that Christian evangelical leaders are lying frauds. Most of the rest claim that there is an invisible "God" who controls the world. That's pretty obviously false as well.

Romans 14:4
4Who are you to judge someone else's servant? To his own master he stands or falls. And he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand.
Matthew 7:2
For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.
Matthew 7:1-3 (in Context) Matthew 7
Romans 5:19
For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous.

I agree we all need to just read Bible and learn what the Truth is and not depend on others to teach us, there are so many out there that end up messing up, and needless to say the truth isn't in them, at one time it may have been but they all got side track with the worldy things and went down to the wrong path. But we also have to remember what is in the past is dead and gone, and we do have us a Forgiving God, Look what God has done for each of us, He forgave us, and if He can forgive us then He can forgive the others..Just be praying for them all...

The enemy of our souls, satan, has many tactics to draw us away from God. This is just one of them.
If you are interested in learning about the heart of Christianity, read and study the bible. Seek out those who are living their lives in the trenches serving Him unnoticed.
Check out these website:
http://www.persecution.com/
http://www.christianity.ca/mission/global/2003/06.008.html
Persecuted Christians around the world put those in western society to shame. They pray for US.
Yes Christianity gets a bad name when a leader is found out to be a fraud. We need to look instead to those who would DIE for their faith as role models.
This stuff doesn't make it to the headline news.
