Depends upon the state. Some allow you to get a permit at 15, others limit it to 16. Licensing ages depend upon whether or not you have completed a formal certified drivers ed program. For example, in MA you must be 16 1/2 with drivers ed and 17 without it. In most states you must be 18 or over to get an unrestricted license.

In South Dakota, (mostly because of our rural areas), a person as young as 14 can get a restricted permit - no night driving. It automatically turns into an unrestricted license at 16.

You can drive at any age if you know how to start car and turn wheel.To do it legally in most states its 16

Usually 15 to get your permit, 16 for your liscence. 18 if you drop out and get your ged, 21 if no GED. That's in the US, all 50states I beleive.
