We were created by God, for God, to glofify Him!
In order to do this, one needs to have a personal relationship with Him. There is a God shaped hole in everyone of us until we know God personally. People try to fill this gap with all kinds of things, such as wealth, family life, music, sport, and some even drugs or alcohol - however one can never be fulfilled until they have a relationship with the One who alone gave us life. He wants to give us life in abundance.

Do you want to know what God said?

He put Adam and Eve in a beautiful garden paradise and gave them the earth and the critters to take care of. They were to extend the boundaries of paradise earthwide, and to fill the earth with offspring that would love and obey their Creator. They were created to live forever...however, we know what happened, they disobeyed and lost eternal life, for themselves and for their offspring as well. God's plan for the earth and for mankind was not stopped entirely because God set into motion the way out for mankind.

As far as producing wealth, that is not God's way, but the way of the world, and this is what the Bible says about that...

1 John 5:19b: "the whole world is lying in the [power of the] wicked one."

1 John 2: 15-17: " Do not be loving either the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him; 16 because everything in the world—the desire of the flesh and the desire of the eyes and the showy display of one’s means of life—does not originate with the Father, but originates with the world. 17 Furthermore, the world is passing away and so is its desire, but he that does the will of God remains forever."

James 4:4: "Adulteresses, do YOU not know that the friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever, therefore, wants to be a friend of the world is constituting himself an enemy of God."

Matthew 6:24: "“No one can slave for two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will stick to the one and despise the other. YOU cannot slave for God and for Riches."

But God said this about the earth...
(Isaiah 45:18) "For this is what Jehovah has said, the Creator of the heavens, He the [true] God, the Former of the earth and the Maker of it, He the One who firmly established it, who did not create it simply for nothing, who formed it even to be inhabited: “I am Jehovah, and there is no one else.”

Humans differ from animals in only one respect! Animals do not engage in philosophy or religion. All science comes from philosophy, and all laws/sociology comes from religion.

If procreation is your life goal, you would be better served becoming a bacteria, or a rabbit. If you want to engage in a quiet luxurious life, become a house cat.

The main purpose of human life lies in our ablitity to discover 'the self'. One gets older, but still feels the same. The self is always constant. Self realization is about finding out whom we are behind the body and the mind (the self is spiritual residing within the physical mind). Once one knows one's self, one can find one's relationship to God. Human life is especially meant for this. As long as one's main objective in life is to obtain 'more': wealth, power, women/men, knowledge, fun, opulence, and sensual enjoyments, one can never achieve anything in life that couldn't be achieved by living as an animal of some sort.

the earth:
(Isaiah 45:18) . . .For this is what Jehovah has said, the Creator of the heavens, He the [true] God, the Former of the earth and the Maker of it, He the One who firmly established it, who did not create it simply for nothing, who formed it even to be inhabited:. . .

YOU, us, Humans:
Being a creation of God, man was originally perfect. (Deut 32:4) Accordingly, Adam could have bequeathed to his posterity human perfection and opportunity for eternal life on earth. (Isa 45:18) He and Eve were commanded: “Be fruitful and become many and fill the earth and subdue it.” As their family increased, they would have cultivated and beautified the earth according to the design of their Creator.—Ge 1:28.

Whats next? Good things, better things, Rev 21:4
And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”

How about a life on earth w/o death, growing old, no more war. That was God's original purpose for us to live forever on earth, not in heaven. His purpose has not changed.

The short answer to the question “why did God create us?” is “for His pleasure.” Revelation 4:11 says, “Thou hast created all things, and for Thy pleasure they are and were created.” Colossians 1:16 reiterates the point: “All things were created by Him and for Him.”

Being made in the image and likeness of God (Genesis 1:27), human beings have the ability to know God—and therefore love Him, worship Him, serve Him, and fellowship with Him. God did not create human beings because He needed them. As God, He needs nothing. In all eternity past, He felt no loneliness, so He was not looking for a “friend.” He loves us, but this is not the same as needing us. If we had never existed, God would still be God—the Unchanging One (Malachi 3:6).

It's up to us to find meaning. It's not handed down by an Invisible Space Pixie. That doesn't make it meaningless tho.

My meaning is to make the world a better place because I was here. I do that by volunteering, being loving to my family and friends and by being an activist for causes I believe in.

"Why"? There is no particular reason. But if individuals want to attach meaning to their lives, they can do so. Religion isn't the only way of going about it, though.
