last night something happened that changed the way i thought about spirits. i was starting to fall asleep when i was listening to music then all of a sudden i fell something press on my back. i was being held down although nobody else was in the room with me. i looked up after i was released and i started to cry i don't know what happened. can anyone tell me what happened.

well I will speak first scientifically and then religiously. There is a thing called sleep paralysis where your body is sleeping and it is paralized so you don't inact your dreams. It can be terrifying when your body does this and your brain wakes up. I awoke one morning before my body and couldn't move for about 5 minutes and I couldn't scream for help or anything. It was terrifying. before science understood that it was believed that it was called the sleep witch (you may want to look up some on that). As far as spirits go you can look at it depending on your relgion. if you are Christian, you have authority over demons and spirits and can demand them to leave as the devil uses the power of your mind (he being a trixter) to his advantage. if you aren't then it is all in your intent if you state clearly and with conviction "If you are here for my good thank you if not YOU MUST LEAVE!" three times then they will leave then you can salt your entryways by taking salt and water and a feather and sprinkling your entryways. the biggest thing is don't fear them because fear is the mind killer (to quote dune) the mind is one of the most powerfull things around and can create a reality for you. you should add though what religion if any you are and that will help people answer you based on where you are at.

Get on your knees, while you're by yourself, and pray to God. Pray for whatever it was to stop; Satan might have been trying to hold you down or something. You dont know what it was, but I doubt it was someone from the spiritual realm trying to talk to you.
If God was trying to talk to you, He wouldn't have held you down or anything. He would have spoken to you when you least expected it, when you weren't thinking about it, and you would have known it was Him. It's hard to explain it, but one just knows when God speaks to them.

I don't know, if it happens again then it needs to be investigated. That is odd. But nice spirits don't usually touch you and they would not be rough with you and scare you either.

It could have been a spirit. Christians have authority over that.

Call our to Jesus Christ - you need His transforming spirit within you. Ask Him to forgive your sin, and cleanse you from all unrighteousness.
