*Applause* very thoroughly done Ty!

But these people, they have to pick n choose the verses that support their prejudices. "You know you have the right god when he hates all the same people you do."

If they applied things remotely fairly, they'd be picketing Red Lobster.

Most of the Christians here will say you're using bible verses out of context and give you a reason for why some of those things were forbidden (and likewise an excuse as to why they're no longer forbidden). They'll probably also forget to mention how the verses on homosexuality are poorly translated and many biblical scholars have theorized that the verses are actually about prostitution that was used to glorify pagan gods, and another verse used to condemn a same-sex pedophilia type relationship, rather than consenting-adult same-sex relationships that are known today. Typical. Believe me, many people just use the bible as an excuse to live in their out dated traditions. Some people will do anything to find something wrong with homosexuality and same-sex marriage.

Yes, the ancient Mosaic Law of the early Hebrews is interesting. You understand that these laws were never enforced in Christianity, and are not even enforced in today's mainline Jewish congregations.

So what gives? In the early days of the Hebrew nation God wanted this people to be separate, and have their own identity. They were the chosen people and part of that concept of being chosen meant that they were supposed to practice a code of ethics that was both strict and moral. In practicing the Mosaic Law the Hebrews became a model civilization for their neighbors.

Well, there's the Bible for you. Makes a lot sense, right? It actually makes more sense in its time and culture, i.e. 2000 to 3000 years ago. To apply it today is absolutly absurd but diehard fundamentalists do. And they are soooo mean-spirited when they do. They can't think outside the box because when they do then they believe that's Satan doing his devilish deeds in their mind. In a sense it is mind control. I'm so glad that I no longer have to suffer under that control. I'm free at last and "reborn again".

I'm still stuck on what God said in Exodus 20:3 "Thou shalt have no other gods before me." Either God is not good at grammar, or he is admitting that there are other gods.

yes..............to all of the above....

there is divine reason for each commandment...whether we understand it or not is irrelevant to God ..he does not have to explain himself to us...

that is why there is something called repentance where we can correct our ways and possibly avoid punishment.
