I know hitting on the slots is all about playing the right machine at the right time, however I was wondering if casino's pay out more in the morning, afternoon, or at night?

This is a very common misconception because the correct answer is at night.

Why is that you may ask. Because there are more slots being played at night. More spins mean more jackpots throughout the casino are being hit. So what if the computers are reset as one poster put it. Resetting the computers won't do anything to help you. Each slot is like a pick 3 lottery. Each reel has a number code that is randomly picked when you touch the spin reels button. Each stop on the reel is assigned one of those numbers. It doesn't matter if you count the number of symbols either because the reels are only a display of the computer's choice. You man have 50 stops on each reel which means the jackpot symbol might be stop #29. So to hit a jackpot you need the computer to pick 29,29,29. Maybe the double bar is stops numbers 2,8, and 5. So if 2,8 or 5 is picked then you will see a double bar on the reel. The thing is, you don't know this information. Only the computer knows what numbers are associated with each symbol.

It does not matter if you play the slots in the morning, afternoon or evening, it is pure luck. You just have to be sitting at the right machine at the right time. Everything with the slots is random, you can hit a jackpot and then 3 minutes later you can hit another jackpot.

Now you may have more players playing at night then in the day time, so of course you will have more payouts, but the frequency that a slot machine will pay out has nothing to do with the time of day at all. It is all about if you are just lucky enough to be on the right machine that is going to pay out, all slot's are random. A machine that has just payed out a huge jackpot is just as likley to pay out again, as a machine that has not ever hit a jackpot.
