Does it really matter? I mean, a crime is a crime and punishment is punishment, no matter what color you are.

Yes, I think racial profiling is just an excuse for the fact that we have more people of color in prison. There are many reasons for higher crime rates among minorities and I don't racial profiling is one of them. People that commit crimes get caught. Even some people of color will admit that the crime statistics are not in their favor and it's because they are the ones committing the crimes. However, with that said, I think the crime rates are higher because of lack of opportunity, etc, but that's not a good excuse either. I also think some racial profiling is needed. I'm sure I'll get thumbs downed on that, but why would airport security need to "screen" a 3 year old white kid holding a teddy bear and skip the group of Arab men that don't speak English. Yes, it's probably not always fair, but some racial profiling is needed to keep America safe. With that said, I do feel bad for the people that are unfairly pulled over due to their race. I'm sure this (DWB) as I've heard it called, does happen, and that's sad for the victims. But it's an unfortunate byproduct of the environment we live in.

I don't think you could possibly be more correct.
but still you DO have to consider the police cannot go out looking for EVERYONE. like someone previously said, if all crimes were commited by 85 year old white woman...why would we look for hispanic males as suspects? Racially profiling is EXTREMLY wrong...and an innocent person should not be put into jail or recieve a harsher punishment just because they are black or white or muslim or latino or whatever. But as wrong as it is you have to admit it is efficient and most likely faster to stop the race who has the majority of people busted for drugs then to stop EVERY person crossing the bridge.

In my opinion, there is no racial profiling. Its all a money game. If you got money, you get off, if you don't you go to jail. And if your lazy and get out and don't want to work, then your gonna hustle or trick, and go right back. And they do this every day. My husband is incarcerated right now, and he thinks some people LIKE being in jail, cause hes seen so many come and go for stupid little crimes. If you sell dope you get like 10+ years (for 2nd or more offense) but you can rape a baby and get out in 2. What kind of sense does that make???? Ive seen the inside, and there are a lot more black people in there than any other race, its not because of racial profiling, its because their either lazy or poor. Same goes with the whites, Mexicans, Indians and all other races.

There are more whites in U.S. prisons that any other "color".
What does that mean? When reading this chart remember that the U.S. population of blacks during 86-97 was 12% and the percentage of whites during that time was 84%

racial profing is a direct result of the media and left wing fanatics.i suppose there are some cops who profile but most do not.this subject could be debated for years and never reach an understanding. here is food for thought. if you patrol an area of the city that is 80% black or hispanic or white or green, then most likley 80@ of citizens that officer will come into contact with will fall into that catagory. stupid politicians and liberal just cant face the facts. the truth does not interest them, only their personal agendas. als o the media playes a hughe part in that when they air a minority being taken into custody without airing or telling the entire truth.racism is a big buisness. tons of dollars, networking, ratings, attorneys, lawsuits. multi-billion dollar buisness.

If you remember the fact that MLK did time in jail as did Rosa Parks for nothing that could be considered today as a crime, then it is logical to assume that there is a proportion of Black prisoners who should not be in jail. Either they have been wrongly/falsely convicted or if guilty have been given a longer sentence than a white person would have been given. Here in UK, there are plenty of Black people in mental institutions who are as sane as you or me but were "thrown away" (in the 1960's and 1970's) simply because their devotion to religion did not match the white jury/judge idea of normal behavior.

Crime is crime, but you have to look at who gets off and why. The Duke players would have been in a very different situation if they hadn't had the money they did. I think money has a lot more to do with it.

Racial Profiling works. If all Bank Robberies were committed by 85 year old white women, would we waste our time lookin for 22 year old hispanic men?

When people speak of racial profiling usually they were minding there own business. So in most cases they don't have five guns and weed. They could be a accomplished man driving a bmw and they are stopped not for speeding or running a light but for Driving While Black! and you should look up the stats about what racial group lead the prison population.

Mabe, just mabe, if there is a higher number of blacks (or what ever race) in jail , it is because more of them commit crimes. It's not racial , it is math.
