Well not trying to be rude but in all honesty i've not read where trimming your beard and wearing polyester is a sin. Now the tattoos thing is in Leviticus I don't know what chapter but it's there about not marking the body. And some things are taken out of context as far as some things aren't necessarily a sin but simply a custom of the time. Like the long hair for the men. Once there was an issue with it Paul said if you feel that way about it we have no such custom. So some things aren't "sins" as much as going against custom. I honestly think the government has a little too much, say in some things.

I see your point regarding your hypothetical situation - as I see it just giving it a quick once over - homosexuality has become political because it hits at the most personal of all issues sexual intimacy which becomes a personal issue for most people including politicians, taking into consideration their own feelings on what is acceptable and unacceptable in the bedroom. Because it hits home I think this male dominated society has decided to approach the subject with malice instead of a more delicate touch realizing the people are only human and should be accepted for who they are (and have rights too no matter what policy makers believe). In regards to tatoo artists and farmers, fabric makers... well quite simply, homosexuality doesn't offer anything business-wise to the system, homosexuality doesn't raise a lot of money for the government like farming, fabric making do - tatoo artists, while the health dept keeps track of them for obvious reasons i think they see them as a small minority industry that's not really worth worrying about (and there's no mass amount of money in it so why would they care).
If you really think about it, whether right or wrong, the only things the government really has time to think about are those thing which will (as they see it) further the government and add to it's business gains (because gov inevitably is a business) and unfortunately those two things are money and politics. If it doesn't help to further them along then it's really a waste of resources as there isn't much to gain (like going after tatoo artists or people who have cut their beards).

The New Covenant also condemns homosexuality. See Romans 1, I Corinthians 6:9, I Timothy 1:10, and Jude 1:7 as examples.

We shouldn't ASSUME it is a sin (abomonation), it is according to God. Homosexuality is mentioned in the list of sins and trangressions that God hated.
The others you mentioned are ordinances not to do, was not mentioned as a sin. Also, the dietary laws were given for our benifits. For example, we all know that pork is bad for your bloodpressure. Also, shellfish and the "unclean" fish are bottom dwellers and eat refuse and therefore not that good for us either.
Tattoos are wrong because God said make no marks for the dead in your body. Also, God considers it a form of self mutilation. God also tells us that NOT to prick the skin.
Now, onto the wheat and barley fields, God says that if you grow wheat grow wheat, barley-barley. It is easier for pollenation. They also grow better in fields by themselves.
God says not to mix fabrics by using two different fabrics because will not draw alike, therefore the garment will not last as long as a single fabric.
Keep this in mind the Bible also said to wash your hands with running water, not to eat flesh of animals(like chicken skins), and fallen fruit is not good for you because it is partially rotten or it wouldn't have fallen from the tree.
I will be honest with you, I do not know for sure why the beard thing. For that matter, there is a lot I do not understand about a lot of the ordinances. I follow all of the New Testament.
Now Jesus did not come to abolish the law but to fullfill it. Just to let everyone know, God doesn't hate homosexuals, but He hates the sin of it.
And as one stated, it is mentioned in the New Testament as a sin, whereas the dietary laws were not repeated. Some of the things God tells us not to do is because it leads to our spiritual deaths, while others just lead to health problems and other annoinances in our life. So we must strive to tell the difference between spiritual and physical.
I know that to unbelievers, this sounds like medieval superstition. However, I now know very well that God exists and I pray that all will come to know the Lord. It is liberating.

The government doesn't ban homosexuality, only beastiality. The government are there to legislate and provide help for society. Society is meant for helping everybody to be the best people they can be. In particular, society helps provide support for bringing up children, as being a parent is quite a burden, but key for economic sucess of the country.
In the governments eyes, children require the support of loving parents (having both a male and female role model). That is where the argument is. Some believe that children do just as well with single or same sex parents. Others maintain that single parent or same sex parents hinder the development of the child. Most governments believe in mixed sex parenting, and so only provide child benifits and marriage rights (which come with government benefits) to heterosexual couples. Really, using the bible as justification is just an excuse for any government. What the government really wants is to avoid paying money to an extra demographic. The fewer rights you have, the less you cost the government.
Planting wheat and barley in the same field is not a sin, its just dumb, you will reduce yeild compared with seperate fields of both. I don't understand your reference to polyester.

I would recommend reading the whole book of Galations in the New Testament. I think it would help you understand the issue a lot. Jesus abolished in His flesh the law with its commandments and regulations. Read about that in Ephesians chapter 2. If you repent of your sins and believe that Jesus is who the Bible said He is and receive what He did for you, you are not under the law. The New Testament says that it is an impossible system and that if you try to earn your salvation by keeping the law you must obey all of it. Since that is impossible to do, the only hope for salvation is
in Jesus Christ. Once you become born again, as the Bible says, you are lead by the Spirit of God, not the law. Please read the whole Bible, not just parts of it. It explains the whole thing. Your eternal soul is worth it.

Good question. I do not think homosexuality is a sin, because I do not believe in God, sins and other fantasies.
I do believe that government should stay away from personal live of people.
By the way, are you talking about government's involvement in Gay Marriage? I think if two consenting men (or women) want to marry each other, fine, who cares!
I just do not like when gay people say they are not allowed to get married BECAUSE they are gay. Wait a minute, I'm not gay and I'm not allowed to marry another man. So, not JUST gay people not allowed to do it.

Your question seems multi-faceted, but I'll answer it as briefly and as best as I can.
A lot of the Old Testement laws had to do with health. For example, pork, shellfish, or uncooked meat carried some diseases that God did not want His people to be infected with, but as sanitation improved, those laws were no longer necessary.
Other laws had to do with the culture of the time, and their idea of modesty, like the fact that women couldn't braid their hair and had to have their heads covered, etc. The culture has changed since then, but the idea behind them did not.
Homosexuality is, according to the Bible, an immoral act, equated with beastiality. Therefore, acting out this immoral action is, in God's eyes, a sin.

I can put wearing polyester up there with homosexuality in regards abominations, but there rest of what you have mentioned have nothing to do with what is unnatural. If I understand what you are trying to infer, you are stating that homosexuality is nothing but a fad or style.

It is God's view that homosexuality is a sin. So is adultery, lying, stealing, etc.....God has destroyed entire nations because of homosexuality.Homosexuality has many negative effect on a society and Government does have to pick and choose what matters to give the most attention to. We don't put a person in jail who stole a candy bar for the same amount of time we would a murderer. Use your common sense.God bless!!!
