The Jewish sabbath is from sundown Friday until sundown Saturday. Sunday is not the sabbath -- it's the day of resurrection. They went to the tomb early on the day *following* the sabbath. That's why Easter always falls on a Sunday.

Traditionally the Jewish Sabbath is from Friday at sundown to Saturday at sundown. When Jesus was crucified and buried on a Friday, he was raised to life on Sunday morning. Now Christians celebrate (have church) on Sunday, because this is the day our Messiah was raised.

The Jewish Shabbat is from 18 minutes before sundown on Friday to about an hour after sundown on Saturday.

The Xtian day of rest is on whatever day they want it to be on.

Different religions have interpreted it differently for centuries, and they see this as a valid reason for saying other religions are wrong. In spirit, every day shoud be the Sabbath in your heart.

The Sabbath is teh seventh day of the week; (Saturday) in our 'Gregorian' calendar. Another way to think of it is to put God first, one does things (such as rest) on the first day of the week.
