One set is practicing to become muslims, they are sooni muslims. The other are not very good muslims, they are shittie muslims.

Ok, in all seriousness. Basically it boils down to the two sects disagreeing over who are the rightful leaders of islam behind muhammed. One say it's Moe, Larry, and Curly while the other's say it's Moe, Shemp, and Curly Joe.
