I hear: How can you live your life as a moral person without believing in god or jesus?

I say: Watch me. And take notes.

It's basically a claim that moral codes come directly from religious dogma. This further implies that atheist people can't be "moral" people. Of course, it's a faulty argument. You can establish moral codes without religous dogma.

Personally, I don't see why religious people would use this argument, because what it's really saying is "Religion is the only thing stopping me from raping and killing everybody ins sight." What about self-responsibility? Or for that matter, the law?

It is very difficult to explain why religious people have no personal morals, and therefore must ask a stranger to tell them how to believe. When such people adopt a set of morals, they feel that it must be the only allowed set on the planet, since they have no idea where they came from and cannot challenge the morals some stranger gave them.

That's ridiculous argument by theologians that atheists do not possess morals and ethics. It's like saying, "I will not kill or rape anyone, just because god says not to."

They want to be self-proclaimed puppets of their master and call that "morals and ethics". While those idiots don't figure that ethics and morals actually come from "instincts" through evolution.

Some people (who I really don't agree with) thinks that the only reason people have morals is because of the bible. According to them, if it weren't for the rules in the bible, everyone would be running around killing people and stealing without feeling any remorse.
This is not true. Animals show morality. For instance, an ape will starve himself for several days if pressing the button to dispense food will also deliver a shock to another ape.

A lot of religious people believe good morals could have only been created by God.

It means, from the Christian viewpoint..."I am right because I am Christian and you are wrong because you are atheist"...
