how to have faith in God?

Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. Find a good non-denominational church (bible based without the attachments of any religion) and listen to what they have to say. Get a bible you can understand like the "new living translation" or "the NIV- new international version" I am a Christian and still struggle with faith because so much of God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, Heaven & Hell is confusing and sometimes doesn't make sense. I just CHOOSE to believe. I do know one thing for certain. God answers prayers. He has answered so many prayers in my life that whenever I doubt I have to remember all He has done for me. There have been times when I was struggling and I would flip through my daily devotional or bible and a scripture or sentence would pop out at me that was totally accurate as to what I was going through. That can't be a coincidence. I don't think there are any coincidences w/ God. I think there is a reason you posted your question and I hope - through one of the answers- you will get your answer. Be quiet and listen for that still small voice that speaks to you. You are searching for answers and I believe God will give them to you. God Bless you.

PS God's timing is perfect even though we want it NOW. Sometimes we have to wait and sometimes we don't and sometimes His answer is no.

Look mate I really want to help you think seriously what I will write and surely you will be happy and find answer for this vital subject.

Before asking you to do any thing read this story:

There were a man called Abraham and he had the same problem that you want to have a solution for it. However, he lived among pagans. He felt more confused and then he decided to go to isolated place and seek for the God. He thought that God might be in the sky. He stared at the sky and he saw a star and then he thought this is his god but when the morning came the star disappeared and he felt unsatisfied. In the next night he gazed at the moon and he thought it might be The God. Again the morning came and the moon gone. Anyway he looked at the sun and he siad that it might be The God because it's the biggest but in the night he realised that it can't be The God. He prayed to the God to guide him. After that Allah (the God) sent ot him an angel how explained every thing to him and later he became a prophet.

I don't believe that God will send for you an angel to show you the way but he will do so in another way if you really seriously sought for him.

Firstly you should consider that there are not any smoke without fire. In other words we have been created by the God and he done so for purpose.
Secondly anybody is fully responsible to find him and obey him. That won't be any problem because God sent prophets and massangers to teach religion. In addition all prophets and massangers came for the same purpose to ensure that all people know about God.
finally I think if you read about Isalm you will find full answers for your all questions and you will feel how God is near you and how he help all creatures to have good live and then go to heaven

Good luck

God speaks to every person through hope. God even hides in our hopes. Faith is more like intuition. You have God's presence and now you need to exercise faith to form a relationship. One who deals with God must believe. To believe is just to suppose in your mind that he might exist and that he rewards those who really seek him. It seems you have a real touch. Let no one spoil it. To exercise your faith; just speak to him. Ask whatever you find is on your heart to ask. And expect an answer, that is faith. To fully answer your question. Faith is both a human ability and a gift from God. Yes, you can have faith without the belief, for that is how God opens contact. It doesn't matter what kind of a person you are or who youi are. There has to be something placed in your heart that will draw you to respond. Your question touched my spirit and, to the best of my ability, this is what you need to know right now.

I suppose it is possible to convince your self that there is a God, to such an extent that you actually have 'faith' that this supernatural being has the answer to all your problems.
Some one to converse with, like a really good friend who you trust and admire.
This of course leads to certain complications , you will then feel the need to follow whatever religion you feel is the 'true' religion. That's where the trouble starts.
We all need help and advise at times, but most of us find it from friends without having to resort to any fantasy character, like Harvey the giant invisible white rabbit!
You must have friends? Have faith in your fellow humans , we are a mixed bunch but we do exist, we are not all perfect (just some of us)!! Most of the problems we have are based on religion, steer clear is my advise (for what its worth)

You don't 'need' faith in god. Just read books and think for yourself. If, at the end of all that soul searching you have concluded that religion answers your questions and improves your life, and can defend these beleifs without blind faith being the cornerstone of your argument, then so be it. However, only commit something to your system of beliefs after you have thought very hard about it, and even then, accept that you may be wrong and keep an open mind. "Doubt is not a very agreeable state, but certainty is a ridiculous one."

First all you can't have faith in God without knowing who God is.God is the creator of the universe and he is not a man or a woman. No human can comprehend the awesomeness of God for he is beyond description. What's more he loves you so much and he wants to be number one in your life.Imagine the queen of England inviting you to have dinner with her. God is bigger than the queen. All you need to do is close your eyes and talk to him.Tell him everything and tell him you want him to be number one in your life. That's all! God is a spirit and he can hear you where ever you are. When you've done that get a bible and get involved a church. There is nothing to hard for God to do,when you pray believe God. It's okay no one does. People have assumptions based on their experiences, but there's no obvious answers.

Here's what I figure.

A) God exists. If God exists it doesn't have a conscious like we do, but rather is more of an anomaly. That is to say it's some kind of force, but doesn't have a brain, or an agenda. This explains why it seems God isn't really doing anything.

As far as the Bible God, if He exists then it would be okay to doubt Him because He purposely put us far away from Him with limited wishy-washy information about His character, in hopes that we would use our free-will to come back to Him. This means He wants us to question and doubt Him to make a fair and accurate choice.

OR...

B) God doesn't exist. It coincides with the level of science and understanding of the universe we currently have. There are probable theories on the start of the universe, life, and civilization. There's less answers, but more logic.

So it's a tough call to make, there's Pascal Wager, which is basically it's less risky to believe in God than be wrong about no God. This has its holes though, but really so does every theory involved with the creation of everything.

Hope there's something in there that helps.

The Bible says He is the Son of the Living God therefore, the word tells us Jesus is a He. As far as God, it simply calls Him God. The Bible says there is neither male nor female in Heaven so it really doesn't matter. As far as the things you've prayed for, maybe they were things you just thought you needed. Sometimes, the Bible says we pray amiss. We don't know God's perfect plan for our lives and maybe some of the things we pray for isn't to be in our lives according to His perfect will and plan. I know of several boyfriends I prayed to stay in my life and they didn't and now i'm glad they didn't becuase it wasn't what God wanted.

Hebrews 11

1. Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

That's what faith is. Faith is also not having doubt in your heart when you ask for something. Maybe you should put a fleece before the Lord. Simply say Lord, if this be your will for my life give me a sign. Just make sure you watch for that sign because you will know when it's from the Lord.

There is no such thing as god.
Faith in god is blind.
You don't need gods of any kind, what good will a fantasy god do for anyone?
Man created god in his own image, that is why religion is culture specific. Gods are not real.

Some people need faith. Others do not. You are the best person situated to determine if you are the one type or the other.

Faith is the belief without evidence. Spend some time alone, and think about it. I trust you will find what is right for you.
