a percolator coffee pot has a thermostat about the size of a dime that shuts off the heat element at 160 F for perfectly brewed coffee
a clothes dryer has a number of different thermostats for drying purposes it has one for delicate one for per press and one for reg cotton. some dryers have one controlling t stat the is heated to change the relationship of temp to veriable settings it also has a seperate High limiit t stat to shut down the dryer in case the controlling tsat goes wild and doesnt shut down
a waffle iron has a tstat that regulates the temp to cook waffles when the desired temp is reached a light comes on indicating the waffle is done ...it also has a limit to shut down the waffle iron in case you forget and walk off
a deep fryer has a controling temp tstat that allows the cooker to stay at set rating such as 375 degrees for cooking french frys or chicken...Its also has a hi limit to shut down the grease if it gets too hot due to faulty controlling t stat
a window a/c unit has a tstat which shuts down the compressor if the temp gets to 60 degrees f
no tstat hi limit is used on an a/c but it does have a tstat located on the head of the compressor called an overload
a crock pot has a tstat which regulates the heat and will not allow the food to burn.
many appliances use tstats or thermostats in conjunction wth fuses and high limits.
