My Labrador Retrievers coller has gotten very small . When i took it off this morning to give her a bath it was all raw and fresh . What should i do ?

take him to the vet
skin is the first defense against infection
you should never continuosly leave a collar on a dog
especially if it is tight
it must be very painful
just like your skin has to be free to breathe so must a dog's
shame on you for such neglect
a dog is a living thing and as your owner your are responsible to keep him healthy and happy
it must have been on there for a long while

btw it is heal not heel
and a collar should always be loose enough to slide your hand under

Dry him off, being careful and gentle around the raw area. If it is very 'oozy', use a blow dryer on warm or cool to dry it just a little.

Reapply 3 x a day.- keep it covered with ointment until it is healed. Keep collar off until neck heals.

Don't put a collar on her for a while. That might make it worse. Give it about a week or so to heal up, and make sure she doesn't scratch it or anything. There are also meds you can buy at pet stores to help it get better. I hope your dog will get better soon!

I would NOT put the collar back on her. Imagine how you would feel with a collar on all day that was too small!! Invest in a bigger one, you can buy it for $10.... Or invest in a better collar that is nylon or a less harsh material to help out your dog!
