How are we going to mentally rehabilitate our good soldier when he returns? These are not the jungles of Vietnam.

What will he tell his child when asked, ' What did you do there, Dad? What did you really do?'

In a pefect world the US would leave Iraq and then on the way out, unleash nuclear weapons upon Iraq, Iran, Pakistan and Aghanistan. Then the US should make it clear that any retaliation will provoke the nuclear destruction of the Grand Mosque and other so-called holy sites in Saudi Arabia.
After that the Sunnis and the Shiites could be left to their schoolboy squabbles.

Absolutely, Almost the entire Christian population of Iraq has fled the US Occupation. Without us there the Sunnis would have to back down and Muqtada al Sadr would be running the show. He may not be our choice but He hates Al Quieda and the Baathist.

As for Rehabilitation, yes, it is going to be a major problem.
After three deployments almost the entire veteran population will need it. The ""Surge"" has about broken the military.

You're funny! They are the terrorists. They are blowing up cars and themselves why we try to establish some order around their. If quit badmouthing what our soldiers are doing they really won't need rehabilitation. We did not have this for our WWI vets or WWII heroes. What he really did there was try to keep the terrorists off of our land and help a people who were ruled by anarchists

Ask anybody you meet from Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam. Those were the same arguments liberals made for withdrawal from Southeast Asia.

I spent 22 years in the navy. During the late 70's and early 80's the ship I was on must have fished 10,000 "boat people" out of the South China Sea.

What will he tell his children....... What did the WWII veterens tell there kids? That we lined up, and left the relative comfort of our homes, to enlist in defence of this great country, lost alot of friends. To serve and fight for rights and freedoms for people that we never met, Saving the world from fasism.
Question is what will you tell your children? That you stood by idle when the country needed you most, after sucking up every last freedom and benefit afforded to you?
In the words of a Baldwin- "Your nothing but a selfish little... thoughtless pig."

Seriously, the life of everyone in Iraq will get worse once the Americans are gone. Not saying it's good now by any means, but if you think the major paramilitaries and the terror movements (PUK Peshmerga, KDP Peshmerga, Badr Corps, Mahdi Army, 1920 Revolution Brigades, etc etc) are all going to drop their guns and embrace in a group hug, you're out of your mind. The only thing keeping them all more or less restrained is the American hammer.

I will tell my children and grandchildren:

"I went over to fight scumbags. I ended up fighting scumbags, then rebuilding schools, giving kids school supplies and candy, making friends out of former Republican Guard, sharing cigarettes and tea, played a few good soccer games."

"I fought more scumbags, and in turn I was shot at, blown up, I watched my new Iraqi friends and their families get murdered, I watched my fellow Soldiers loaded onto C-130s inside flag-draped caskets in the middle of the night. I watched pointless, mindless violence and did my best to stop it."

"And the whole time the government screwed us over by shackling us, and the American people helped the government screw us over, because some jackass watching TV thought he knew more about the war than every last one of us fighting it."

"So there you have it. Just remember, the people who are most eager to snatch your freedom away first aren't people overseas. They're people who call themselves your neighbors and patriots. People who pretend to love peace and America and will feed you lies. Never believe them."
