I would'nt e-mail the person above ! And you're not likely to find any Chinese people online at this time of day. Plus China's internet policy isn't as free as ours. If you have'nt found anything online, then you have'nt been looking very hard. Google "China's one child policy" and you should get many sites to look at.

I don't personally have any stories, but I do know people who have been somewhat involved with the One Child Policy.
One of my neighbors had a second child, and she lost her job. Her husband was able to keep working, but she was unable to continue her career, and eventually ended up as a low-paid intern. The family was rather optimistic about the whole thing, though, and deemed themselves lucky that the husband was allowed to keep the job. The official government statement is that one of the parents will be arrested if they continue to have the children, with an array of other warnings.
A co-worker of mine was born a few months after the restriction was put forth, and his mother had to sell the local authorities two trees in their yard to be able to keep him. However, this was in a small countryside village and was when the policy was still extremely new - I doubt a stunt like that would work anymore.

Well, you can access Yahoo from China with no problem at all. (But I don't know how many people will give you a good answer in good English)
The thing is, while many Americans think it horrible, most Chinese people actually accept and understand it. I was born in China, but I am not an only child. I have an older brother because my parents wanted a girl and they thought it's worth it to pay the fine. (They even saved up for it) People in rural areas usually are allowed to have many children as they like, but birth rate in rural China decreased as well. Recently, several major cities are loosen the law as well.

The one child policy in China is just only for the poor people living in city and for the government staff, if you are rich enough you can have any child by penalty in money. the new policy for the farmer or people in country can get two children, if the first child is female.
