I'm very paranoid. usually like my mom or my father in law babysit.
I have another one on the way though and have to go back to work so I am going to try to interview some people in my neighborhood and see who i like.

Since my children are now adults I have to think back a few years to what their Dad and I did at that time.
We only had their Grandparents and a couple of other family members babysit them. We also had a couple of other very close and trusted friends who would babysit occationally.
We were definitely choosy over who we would choose for babysitters, and it was a very infrequent occurrence. When they were young, we basically knew that the children were our responsibility most of the time, and would only go out for date night very seldom, it was more of a family nite until the kids were a bit older.
In todays world, you would have to practically have background checks and DNA testing done before I would trust anyone to babysit any children that I was responsible for.
Have a good day.

Obviously someone I know and trust. My kids are a little bit older and will tell me everything about what happens when a babysitter is watching them. I have fired and talked to many parents about why I will never ask their kid to babysit for me again! And I've talked to my parents about some of the stupid things they do when they are watching them, and not to do them again!
I am a picky mother, for a good reason! Ugh...it's hard to be a good person sometimes. :)

Grandparents, aunts, uncles, or sisters and brothers. If not then someone I know is dependable and trust worthy. If all fails then a good recommended sitter or day care

Our kids are in their 20's now. So my husband and I do the babysitting work. And we totally love it. We don't know if they use teen babysitters, but they and we'd both prefer dropping them off with us so they can go out and have fun.

interview the people that want to babysit your child and maybe ask to have the interview at their home just to see what kind of person you are hiring. that can tell a LOT about the person (how well they keep it)
