First of all, not everyone crosses their legs. Not all people find it comfortable. It actually causes those icky blue veins at the back of your leg, so you know. I would just teach your daughter to keep her knees together, and let her decide if she wants to cross her legs or not.

When parenting you should be an example to a child - but respect them and remember they are "individuals"
I think your "suggestion" is appropriate to a point.
Teaching your young daughter to cross her legs, let's say..when she's wearing a dress is just common sense.
I think in time as she becomes a woman and is wearing a dress she will adopt this way of sitting , it is almost a reflex action.
Outside of when she is wearing a dress..it's her choice!

When you
insist that she sit with her legs crossed "always" it is disrespectful to her. She is a individual and her body is her own.
The way she feels comfortable while sitting is the way she should sit.

If YOU feel uncomfortable with her sitting in a natural way that's comfortable for her...you need to look at "why".
Why do you need to control the way she sit's
What are your issues?

Why do you CARE if she crosses her legs? Who in the world has the TIME to care if their kid crosses her legs?????
Obviously, you need a hobby.
If this is the biggest problem you have out of your 10 year old get down on your knees and thank God!
LEAVE HER ALONE... Let her sit how she wants.

Unless you want your child's legs and attitude to be deformed you better leave her alone. The attitude you describe is extremely unnatural and not good for circulation in the legs. The best proof for that is that children don't do it, they still listen to their bodies. There seems to be a hidden agenda on your part as well. Why else would you want to put pressure on a 10-year-old to behave like "a regular woman" whatever that is?
I think you should see a therapist.

The "perfect" thank you to circulate your legs for a woman is to circulate them on the ankles. that forestalls skirt holiday up and too plenty thigh from displaying. it somewhat is extra suitable for a youthful lady to circulate her legs that way. additionally, you need to comprehend that crossing your legs is relatively undesirable on your posture and your back. It throws the alignment of your hips and back off and can carry approximately project. It additionally motives constriction of the veins interior the back of your legs which some examine say motives varicose veins. All in all, crossing your legs by putting one over the different isn't in all possibility some thing your 10 365 days previous desires to study. Have her take a seat together with her ankles crossed, legs to a minimum of one edge. That encourages sturdy posture. i could hassle extra approximately how she holds her knife and fork and her table manners. i can not inform you the way many junior severe pupils I even have taught that haven't any clue a thank you to shrink their meat with out looking like they're sawing wood!

your daughter has free will, do not expect her to do the same thing you and your husband do and do not force her

so long as she sits up straight and keeps her legs together when wearing a dress or a skirt, she's going to be fine

It's not the healthiest way to sit. It would be better if you simply explained that when wearing a skirt she should keep her knees together while seated.

If that's your biggest concern, you've got yourself one hell of a daughter. Honestly, let her be a kid. She'll grow up soon enough.
