Okai, let me elaborate, I am not looking for online help for her. I am looking for a search site where I can search for those who charge on a sliding scale in her particular area.

You don't want online help because you don't know the true professional credentials of the person. Look up in the phone book or call a local hospital and ask for the phone number for a crisis center or your local mental health center. The crisis center does not usually charge and mental health centers are usually run by the State or County on a ability-to-pay, sliding-fee scale.

BTW your girlfriend is the only person who can contact them for help because of HIPPA rules.

Look up your local psychological association. Each state has one, so google Illinois Psychological Association. You should find links to the nearest city's psych association, e.g. Chicago or something. They should have a directory and you can ask about sliding scales, if it is posted or when you call them. A psychologist should also be able to refer you to a place with sliding scale fees.

The other thing to do is to look up local graduate schools in psychology, like the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. Many schools have clinics where students train and receive supervision from Lic. Psychologists. They often offer sliding fees.

Hope this helps.

I think your best bet is calling an office and asking and explaining your financial situation. Many claim to not be sliding scale, but if you are paying cash many are willing to do so. Not a psychiatrist I have met would, but every therapist or psychologist I have seen was more than willing to do this for me as I had no insurance.

Look up Mental Health Organization. There is probably one near you. They charge on sliding scale.
There should be a state mental health trust that can also guide you to resources for her.
Here are sites to get that information.
