i am buddhist and i am choosing between Theravada and Mahayana, which one is best, can i be both?

Choose which path of logic makes the best sense to you and works for you. Some people do cafeteria approach so there's no set laws saying what you can and cannot do. It is better to choose a path of logic and stick to it though. Some practices can get confusing if you mix and match too much.

Just try out all forms of Buddhism and pick which one suits you the best in terms of your beliefs or just be a Buddhist who practices all forms of Buddhism. All forms of Buddhism pretty much teach the same things such as the Four Noble Truths and the Noble Eightfold Path.

You can be both or neither. As a practicing Buddhist, I do not claim to be a good example of such. I do contend that sutras teach us to seek truth from inside and to live without harming others. I wish you peace.
