capsules are made of gelatin, usually from an animal source. However, if you are a vegan, it is possible to get plant based capsules. They are a lot harder to find and much more expensive

Lots of capsules are made from plant cellulose, just plain old plant cells.

Gelatin from animals might be used, but it's not as stable and has a shorter shelf life making the medication have a shorter shelf life. It's not exactly the #1 choice in the pharmaceutical industry.

Gelatin from animals is made out of the collagen from the connective tissues from cows and pigs. Collagen is also used to plump lips, it's the same stuff.
