Those who call themselves "Christian": Do you parse the words of Jesus to find loopholes you can exploit?
Matt 6:24-34
"No man can serve two masters ... Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
"Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than the meat, and the body than raiment?
"Behold the fowls of the air; for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?
"And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:
"Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? ..."

Matthew 19:21-29
"Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.
...
"And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life."

Christ Himself said that those who love Him will obey His commandments, and they will be His disciples.
John 15:7-8 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.
-- and --
John 15:10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.
Anyone can say the words "Jesus is my Savior," but only those who obey His commandments are truly His. St. James confirms this in his letter:
James 2:19-20 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?
So we have to have both faith and obedience to Christ's commandments by loving and serving those who are in need.

Jesus counselled his disciple's ordinarily to love one yet another as that they had enjoyed him, that's totally honest. the reality and given awareness of Jesus is the reality of all scripturs with out exemption. The Sprit of the Christ lives on interior the hearts of people who love him, conquer your anger, and that i do no longer doubt you have plenty to be indignant approximately, as do I, and hear the suggestions and reviews of they who've love and worship the entire diety and his teachings. Atheism is a nonsense. I even have very much of know for actuality seekers however the ranters make little or no coherent experience. you're a formidably clever contributor, with out doubt, and a extremely respected one, and that i think it does a disservice on your reason to proceed this incessant tirade against the truthful. you will cite freedom of speech and the main outstanding to voice any comments you go with for to take action. it somewhat is precisly this dogma that hinders progression and impedes enlightenment and th ePeace the international so urgently is in desire of. talking basically for the sake of rhetoric fairly than to direct or substitute the international for the better. i do no longer bear in mind Jesus ever asserting, ''You dont get it, '' The truthful, I presume communicate on precisely the comparable authority and premise that the atheists do. An indignant infantile see observed of futile finger pointing and groundless accusations. Peace. Be So enjoyed.

No, Jesus said that we must love. Preach the good news of God's kingdom....these are actionable commands. It's not enough to just say he is our Savior

Well being a Christian usually requires that you follow Gods word (to an extent for most). If you didn't want to do that, why even be a Christian?
There are other things that may suit you better.

Anyone can say Jesus is my savior, but that doesn't make you a Christian. Just like going to church doesn't make you a believer either. It does help you grow in your faith. It says in the bible that faith without works is dead. You must believe that Christ is the risen Lord and he saved you from all your sins, but its not just enough to say that you do. You must live it out. Your life should be about striving to be like Him. That means sharing his love with others.

Jesus is my Savior. Luckily my salvation is not about what I do or I do not do...it is a gift of God through grace and faith.
Is this a reason why you do not follow Jesus because you think that you need to sell everything to follow Him? Otherwise I do not understand why you keep repeating this.

I am Roman Catholic so yes I am Christians but unlike other Christian religions we don`t believe we are automatically saved. We fear God and we never take for granted that we will be saved, it would be arrogant of us to assume so, we follow his word and we live in hope he will have mercy on us.

So, I'm glad to read you can accurately quote a book.
However, I think it's pretty obvious. If one calls themselves a Christian, they should do what he says, because to proclaim you think one thing and do another makes you a hypocrite. For which, Jesus rebuked the Pharasies.

To truly accept Jesus as your savior is actually enough.
Everything else is a relationship between you and Him. Once you've accepted Christ, it's not like a magic wand and you just 'poof' starting do everything you should. At that time. you're still a child in Christ. You must study to let God reveal His word to you.

This is the exact reason why people think that Mormons believe we must work our way to heaven. We simply believe that if one says that "Jesus is my Saviour" than we should follow the commandments and do what he says, not simply SAY "I believe".
