are gay people allowed in the military at the moment, or are they not accepted. Does anyone have some good sites or information regarding gays in the military. Anything would be appreciated.

The "Don't ask, don't tell" policy started in the Clinton era is still in effect. Essentially, that means if you are gay and are not open about it, you can be in the military. But if you openly demonstrate your sexual orientation, you will be discharged.

its a don't ask and don't tell policy. It can be harsh being in the military and being gay i looked on the army website and to be could not really find anything to do with this issue. I guess there are some websites set up to help with this issues and others that people face when joining the military.

Gays are allowed in the military. If you are "openly" gay, and tell every G.I. that you are gay, you will have problems. Think about it. If I went to an anti-war rally (lead by Rosie, Alec, or Hanoi Jane), and I wore a "Rush Limbaugh Rules" shirt, what kind of reaction do you think I would get?

I praise everyone for signing up to join our military, and I don't care if your gay or not - you're a hero in my book! It comes down to practicality. There are many gays in our military who keep their sexual preferences to themselves, and they have very rewarding military careers. If you're gay, do you have to "come out of the closet" and tell everyone? Why? Does everyone go around saying that they're a heterosexual?

Yes, sadly they are allowed in. B/c of that stupid "Don't ask Don't tell" policy (which we need to get rid of). But if you are gay and the Military finds out that you are gay well....you pretty much are gonna get a beating that you won't ever forget and maybe it will beat some sense into you and make you realize being gay isn't worth it. Umm..can't think of any websites but if I find any I'll let you know.

Current "Policy" is "Don't ask, Don't tell, Don't pursue". Meaning if you keep your mouth shut and do not engage in ANY homosexual activity while in the military, you will be left alone to serve honorable.
It is still a crime under the UCMJ, Artical 125, to engage in homosexual conduct while in the military. So if you tell anyone or are caught. You can be charged, Court Martialed and discharged.

If you're in the US Army and they learn that you're gay you're going to experience the worst beating of your life and then receive a dishonorable discharge after serving x amount of prison time at Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas! If you're gay and in the military you've made the biggest mistake of your entire life. so get ready for the consequences!
