Is Christ not in you?
Is the Good News a hammer that you use to beat the Atheist with, and believe, like a whipped dog, s/he will "heel"?
Are you genuinely surprised when Atheists as a whole rankle at ANYTHING you say about Christ and God?
Atheists, please accept my humble apology on behalf of anyone and everyone who calls themselves "Christian" whether they are or aren't.
So, what's it going to be, "Christian", are you going to love your neighbor, or what?

Personally, I don't get any pleasure from ridiculing anyone. I refuse to join the V. F. W. because of the space on the application that affirms that I believe in a higher power. If I was in a foxhole and an atheist had my six, who is the braver man. I believe that when I die, I'm going to a better place. He or she believes that when death comes the only transformation is to plant food. You have to respect someone who is willing to sacrifice their life with absolutely no hope for eternity.
On the other hand, as much as I respect their right not to believe, I would ask them to have the same respect for my right to believe. I am not going to try to change anyone's mind. If my life doesn't testify my belief, than my words aren't going to do much more. You obviously got the full treatment from somebody, and the fact that they did it in the name of GOD makes it that much worse. It may comfort you to know that according to my belief system, they will be held accountable for their actions when they come face to face with their spiritual mentor. Other than that, have a good life, get as much joy as you can from it, and thanks for the opportunity to share.

There is something about your "apology" on behalf of all Christians in this forum that rankles me. Like most of us, I've seen my beliefs mocked and my Savior blasphemed by the same atheists that you're defending so vigorously here.
I'm not disputing that we need to love one another as Christ commanded us to do. . .you're absolutely right about that. But on the whole, most Christians in this forum don't go around attacking the atheists nearly as much as a lot of the atheists do us and our beliefs. Furthermore, the few attacks that I *have* seen aren't half as vicious as a lot of what I've seen coming from the non-believers.
So if there's any apologizing to be done, I'll take care of my own "Sorry" on those occasions when I cross the line. You have no right to speak on anyone's behalf except your own.

I do not ridicule Atheists but have often been ridiculed on here by them. I have been called narrow minded, stupid etc etc...
Usually these are aimed at ALL Christians, and not necissarily directed at me personally.
I try not to take it personal except the fact that I am being stereotyped because Christians are not all the same.

It always amazes me that atheists try to use the bible to generate sympathy from believers in an attempt to pander to the "christian duty". How contemptibly nauseating can one be? How low is one willing to abase themselves just to look like the hypocrite they are? You don't have to do this. We already know you're a hypocrite. As for ridiculing atheists- don't dish it out if you can't take it in return.
For heaven's sake, man-where are your Christian values?

We aren't to bash anyone for their beliefs/
I see no verse saying The Lord said on the 6th day to bash everyone!
Your right, to "meany" of us want to show the love of Christ in a totally wrong manner...course that isn't to say we are much better on a whole to each other..
I am there with ya on the apology...

Let's forgo the fact that you are generalizing.
But, I have some wonderful Atheist friends. Pagan and Wiccan as well.
The 'group' that bothers me the most are my own fellow Christians who are ignorant of their own beliefs and go around spewing hatred towards Pro-Choice groups or Homosexuals. In the 'true' since of being a Christian, you should love everyone. And show God's love thur your actions.

We should all be more accepting and respectful of each other.
I don't remember it being this hostile between Christians, Muslims, Jews, Mormons, Atheists, etc. until around 9/11.

Now you have me. I consider myself a Christian and if I have offended anyone atheist or otherwise then I am truly sorry, but, I am not aware of any recent ridiculing. Still I may have and not realized it and am truly sorry. Sometimes it is accidental.

Who says I ridicule them?
I don't whip anyone, or hammer anyone. It just pisses me off when they tell us it's bad for us to preach our beliefs but go around making jokes about Christ and all sorts of things like that....
