I do and i'm not even an American...I think that the USA has equal parts strength and compassion. The USA could lead the world into an unpressidented time of prosparity and peace. The left doesn't have all the answers and neither does the right. But if you could really get it together, stop looking at the other side as evil or stupid or less than you, there's nothing postitive the USA couldn't do. I wish you luck...the rest of the world needs you.

Politically, not anymore everydobys after great personal wealth or political gain. Nobody cares about the their more concerned with the blame game and who would should be incharge. If our country isnt preserved we will forever play the blame game on who ruined the country and nobody will see they ALL did by neglect.

It would seem by watching the news these days that everyone is feeling shameful of our country and its leadership. However, it is just the reporters exploiting the minority opinion because that is news - the majority opinion is that, what most people think and that doesn't sell or even catch our attention - please consider watching public television's version of the news and interviews, you'll have a much better feeling about American life!!

I care quite a bit. So does my wife, and most of the people I know. That is why we stand against those who have taken our nation down a dark path, those who place personal liberty over personal responsibility. I care enough that I want to see us return to the U.S. republic of our forefathers. They understood that freedom came with a price. They also understood that being free was not the same as having the liberty to do anything you wanted.

Many people do, but may believe that this great country needs to move a direction with which many may disagree. For example, as one who believes strongly in free choice and personal liberty, I strongly support gay marriage and access to abortion. I care enough about this country to voice those opinions and openly support them, but if others disagree with my views, they may see me as not caring about the country.

So, I think the answer to your question depends on what you believe demonstrates giving a damn.

The majority of American parents keep their eyes low because they're trying to get the bills paid, and they're not teaching the younuns about democracy.

Others with more money want to push the Neoconservative agenda which protects only a few.

The rest are Immigrants who are unaware they to make a democracy work, you have to exercise your right to complain. They are more interested in sending money home and no one is explaining to them why democracy is important for other things than money.

Then you have some powerful political leaders who won't read their e-mails or listen to comments from people like us.

We complain on Yahoo while the media ties our leaders up in knots and puts blindfolds on the public.
