Sounds like you are going to Thailand and you need some help with shopping ideas.

If you are going to Bangkok for clothes then just about anywhere is good but my favourite places are the Pratunam clothes market, MBK shopping centre, Chatuchak weekend market and the Lumpini Night market (Silom road and Patpong area are good as well). Other people may also recommend other places.

About "tell me some Thai words but written in english
& wt do they mean" - Not sure that will help. Thai is a tonal language and you need to be able to hear it said, otherwise some word will have a totally different meaning if not said correctly. Not only that - certain sound is very difficult to write in english. You might like to get a phrase book - but again, you still better off hearing the proper pronunciation.

Don't worry about not able to speak Thai. Tens of thousand of tourists go shopping everyday without a word of Thai and they seem to haggle ok. People are used to foreign tourist there.

Best place for clothes are in pratunam area. Particularly, the platinum mall which is right across the street from Pratunam mall. I found the Pratunam mall unorganized and confusing to walk through though there are bargains there. The platinum mall is 6 stories including the basement of clothes by type. I was just there 2 weeks ago out of curiousity. Jeans in the base ment and you go from there. Nice food court at the top.

The following website has most if not all the shopping malls in Bangkok. Tells you how to get there etc. This site is a good general info site for Bangkok.

If you want souvenirs, I would go to either MBK center or Pratunam mall. T-shirts and trinkets. I used to suggest MBK for jeans and clothes but, when I was last there a couple weeks ago, the stores had all gone towards label, diesel mostly. There are OTOP stores in Pratunam mall. OTOP stores are stores from the tambon's or villages or towns for the product they produce. Silks, wood carvings, etc. You can find some unique items.

The below website has a pdf language phrase guide available. The site is also good for tips, see tips section on left. This website is oriented toward the male aspect of Bangkok but, the "clubs" section would be for both men and women visitors. If you were interested.

I realize that you did not specify where you were going. I only gave you Bangkok. As did the others.

Oh yeah, you can go to the Siam Centers or Emporium or Central World Plaza (formerly World Trade center), you will find the prices similar to Europe or USA. It's nice to look at but, I don't think what you are looking for.

And of course haggle in english, most vendors understand enough english to make a sale. Hahaha

Good luck and enjoy Thailand.

Depends on where you go.. But i would stay out of the stores if your looking for cheap. Go to markets, you'll have good luck finding decent clothes, purses and shoes at an affordable price. But keep in mind that their sizes are very different. In Canada I'm a 29 in jeans but there I was fitting into a 32!! Talk about a self esteem blower!!
And all I can tell you about Thai words is
Sa Wha Dee Kah , it means hello
Kap Khun Kah means thank-you
