Best place I have found on the web for helping to re-home or adopt out pit bulls is Pit Bull Rescue Central http://www.pbrc.net

Good Luck.

Without knowing where you live it's a little hard however I would post on craigslist, postaroo, or put signs up. You should also google your area and put in Pittbull Rescue (or Staffordshire Rescue). There are a lot of breed specific rescues that may be able to help you. If you don't find a listing on the internet you can call your local SPCA they may be able to help or vet offices usually know. I like the idea of giving the dog to rescue because they usually know a lot about the breed and are able to screen potential adopters more.

Why can't you keep your dog?

Read this about getting rid of your dog so you have a good understanding of the truth surrounding "rehoming" your pet:
http://www.libertydogtraining.com/what_really_happens.html

If you are having training or behavior problems that are leading you to want to get rid of your dog, then you need to be patient and work with him. If that means hiring a trainer, than that is your responsibility.

If you are moving, well, you can usually take your dog with you. Most people say "they can't," because they don't want the hassle, but they can. Read this:
http://www.libertydogtraining.com/FAQ_movingwithdogs.html

House Training the problem? Got that covered, too:

I can guide you with destructive behavior and separation anxiety, if those are the issues.

No matter how you look at it, your reason for "getting" rid of your dog is actually one that can be worked with. Unless you are actually moving to an area that bans pit bulls, at which point you should ask yourself, "Why did I get a breed like this when I knew I could be sent somewhere that they are banned?"

If you are getting rid of your dog due to aggression toward people, well then yes, you need to get rid of him. BUT you need to have him humanely euthanized, because human aggressive pit bulls are a threat to the public, as well as have a high risk of being used as junk yard dogs, or picked up by nasty people who will use this dog for terrible things.
Poor dog...

Why not take your dog to your local Humane Society? They are better equipped to find the dog a suitable home. However, depending on the shelter, he may be uthenized if they’re not able to find him a home.

BE VERY CAREFUL. Don't say it in the advertisement, but you need to physically check the home it goes to, it might get picked up by a sweet lady - who'se husband happens to fight them.

as a responsible pitt owner (i assume you are), i'm guessing your dog is protective, but not violent (just attacking for the sake of it), right? it's your duty to this dog to make sure you find it a home where they won't put it into fights. when we had to give up ours because we were moving, we were sad, but we found another family with kids around the same age as ours who wanted him.

and to anyone who wants to be on my a** about having a pitt near small children: he was raised around children and i never hesitated to let him sleep with my kids. i even have a picture of my 3 month (now 16 months) old son sleeping with the dog. he loved my kids and wouldn't have hurt them for anything. my daughter could jump on him and he'd lick her face, and he'd let her hold him by the collar and walk him through the house.

You should take it down to the local Petsmart, or Petco. Ask them for advice and such, and ask if you could bring the dog there every weekend, and see if anyone wants it. My parents found a dog, and did that for him.
