This is one of my favorite topics of discussion.
All of these “illnesses” are not really understood by the psychiatric community because they are manifestations of the deprived spiritual condition of man. These “experts” do not want to believe that the mind is something that is unknowable and supernatural, so they are not able to think outside the box of the DSM IV. The ones who can and do eventually leave the profession.
Mental retardation is a different story. Now, I might be putting foot in mouth here, but I think mental retardation should be on Axis III, because it is caused by a medical condition. I think it was on Axis I for a while. Who knows where they’ll put it next.
It is frustrating to think about the fact that psychologists (and psychiatrists to a lesser degree) are ignoring their conscience about the mind-brain dichotomy. The mind and brain are two separate but interconnected things that cannot function properly one without the other. One is spiritual and the latter is physical.
With all of the recent developments in modern medicine and technology, it is so strange that psychiatrists have not figured this out yet. Maybe some have, I don’t know… Belief in an Omniscient Creator, God, is the only starting point and hope for them. Philosophers and Theologians already know of the difference so maybe all those guys should be communicating to set the record straight. After all, the history of philosophy, theology and psychology is derived from the same place.
Socrates really knew what he was talking about. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socrates
I was thinking about this just last night. This is kinda weird, but remember the Simpsons episodes where Homer’s sperm is trying to fertilize Marge’s egg, and they keep conking heads with one another going “Doh!”, until FINALLY, the strongest sperm manages to find and penetrate the egg? ROFLMAO!
I printed out a few very interesting but hard to find articles in the past few years about psychotic or mystical experiences of mental illness, which I found very informative.

Every person has some tiny percentage of the things forementioned. Some more then others, but not one is loved less by the Heavenly Father..These are just a few of the names that man eventually put names too.
All people have needs and are different then each other are are imperfect in someway- Through Jesus Christ only will followers be made perfect again in God's Glory..
Jesus Chirst was the only flawless and perfect Human..
Adam and Ave disobeyed God-leading to all these thing we are seeing, Only through Jesus Christ can a person be connected to God -
Theses illnesses are just a tad of what the future holds.

The most intelligent and creative people suffered mental illnesses. Their mind couldn't handle the level it was functioning at. Perhaps because we only use a very low percentage of our brain. Maybe one day when we are more evolved, we will learn to use the full capacity of our brain. So I don't think its intelligent design but perhaps an overworked brain that can't shut itself down. Could you imagine what humanity would do if it had full access to its mental power.

"Mental illness is the result of the sin of the world."
Yeah, I guess he would know.
It's amazing to me that there are people walking around outside of lunatic asylums with these ideas.
It boils down to the fact that they'd rather take the blame for their own pain and suffering as human beings, than admit that perhaps nature is indifferent to the human condition after all. "Sin" originated as an explanation of why God didn't make it rain every time He was petitioned by the savages. "He's mad at us." The idea was that the actions of humans had a direct effect on the weather; the goal was to secure the effect they wanted at any given time. It was really primitive science - they had at least the notion of cause and effect; the problem was that they didn't understand the real causes behind the perceived effects, and so invented God.
So today their descendants still believe that whenever bad things happen, it must be God's punishment for "sin." These people are troglodytes who have not progressed mentally, morally or spiritually beyond the Bronze Age.

One things for sure, if ID were true it'd mean you'd have a malevolent designer. Intelligent Design is not only incoherent, unscientific, but it is fatally flawed. “The Designer” who so Intelligently Designed our world, in theory, could be malevolent or capricious just as easily as he could be all good. He might have designed us intelligently, but for the purpose of watching us tear each others' throats out. In fact, if you look at nature this would seem to be the more likely case. In theological terms, ID suggests forces operating upon the world from without, but it does not say whether that those forces are good or evil. For all that ID can tell us about the Creator, H. P. Lovecraft's nightmare deity Cthulhu might have been the brains behind the operation.

They were designed intelligently by God, and intended for atheists; but things got out of hand around the time of Moses. Moses himself became infected with an acute case of amygdaloid diphlyxia.
God tried everything short of changing him into a goblin. He was able to change Moses' rod into a snake, but the mental disorder only got worse with time.
Moses also suffered from a rare form of lisping, which really complicated things when he dictated the Bible and Aaron wrote it down. But I digress.
In general, however, intelligent design works just fine.
As for you and your question, I denounce both of you.

Some kinds of depression are "intelligently designed" by bigots and high levels of constant hate... woo hoo. Your brain stops functioning normally and you become the equivalent of spaghetti squash overcooked.

I've always thought manic depression for example could have evolved as a result of our ancestor's lifestyle- long winter months spent in caves followed by short periods of manic activity in hunting and gathering food has left us with the legacy of manic depressives.

All those disorders are the result of people refusing to think for themselves in attaining their basic needs, with the exception of mild-mental retardation which can be the result of a physical head trauma, or a birth related issue.

Oh and bad backs, blindness, stillbirths, foetal disorders, blindness, congenital diseases, albinoism, miscarriages - in humans AND animals before you start on Eve's sin.
To name but a few.
In other words, ID - as pointed out by most Christians, Jews, Muslims and Atheists alike - is a load of bollocks.
