I want to give you a method I have found breaks a depression. First though, if you have clinical depression you need to see a specialist. It sounds though as if you do not have continual depression so here goes.

Depression I think is primarily the result of negative situations and negative thinking. It is normal to feel down when things are not going entirely as you would like. But dwelling on such things by prolonged negative thinking can result in a real deep depression. The trouble is negative thoughts create a depression and the depression results (often) in more negative thinking in a self reinforcing cycle. To break out of this cycle you have to will yourself to think about positive things.

It is hard because the state of mind you get into with depression is conducive to thinking negatively and you have to will yourself to dwell on positive images and thoughts. The positive thoughts will lift your mood. Once you feel it start to lift into a more happy mien start doing positive, enjoyable things to maintain it. It gets easier after this.

Good LUCK, GOOD HEALTH, PEACE AND LOVE!

As difficult as it is to start out with the treatment process, it is the best way to deal with true depression. Psychologist and psychiatrists are used to seeing people who aren't familiar with the process. They're there to help you and it sounds like you need it.

If you have clinical depression, trying to deal with it on your own is not a good idea. I recommend you consult a psychiatrist, not a psychologist. If you live near Little Rock, Arkansas, e-mail me and I'll send you the name of a good one.
