There have been many attempts of One World Religion, others than the founders of the great Religions: Abraham, Jesus, Muhammad, Lao, Buddha...

- "Freemasonry", tried it with the principles of the "fatherhood of God" and the "brotherhood of men", and it failed!

- "Baha'ism" tried it with the principle "the earth is but one country and mankind its citizens", advocating a One World Religion, a universal language, a world confederacy of nations, the establishment of world peace... but it failed!

- The "Unification Church" of Moony tried "to unite all Christendom and all people under God", and it failed.

- The Unitarian-Universalist Church and the Unity Church also failed as the Sikh failed to unite Muslims and Hindus.

- Now a days the "New Age Umbrella" and the "New World Order" are fostering a One World Religion, one monetary system, with no boundary of nations... without any good results as yet.

Excellent comments from all so far.

There seem to have a number of folks who fail to understand the difference between a person being free to choose his or her own religion and being free to impose personal convictions onto others in the form of law. The problem isn't "gods and messiahs." The fact is that the same basic moral codes are in all religions and placed into law in one form or another everywhere. Yet conflict and discord abounds! In my opinion only "God" can accomplish such impossibility, because for God nothing is impossible.... but always God have used men and women to accomplish impossibilities.

i do no longer think of it is accessible actually. helpful there ought to be rules to attempt and enforce it, yet people could nevertheless do what felt top to them in secret. The religions that at the instant exist are so diverse that i do no longer think of any hassle-free floor ought to ever be typical adequate to transform everybody... except, possibly, this new faith replaced into in basic terms an acknowledgement that we don't comprehend which faith is authentic, and subsequently everybody openly agreed to in straight forward terms appreciate all of them the two. EX: "enable us to thank Jehova for this foodstuff, Chronos for the family contributors time we can proportion together as we devour it, and the mummy Earth for the captivating day exterior which will follow."

Yes. See

Not only is it coming, but none shall avail against the might of a united heaven when it does by 2012.

Many fanatical christians and others will refuse to the end to give up their cursing, their hate, their double standards.

But firstly and foremostly, the unity of religion will come from the unity of heaven. And the unity of heaven is for all those who have died first. Those who are still living and obsessed in hate will take a little longer.

there is no need for One World Religion. If you think about it, all religions have nine out the ten commandants in common and that should be enough. If people are true to their religion, peace will prevail.

No, 90 percent of the world believes in a God, only 5 percent claim to be full out atheist, it would take a large increase in atheists for this to occur. (you make get some agnositcs as well, and some nonreligious so your figure may be a little higher).

I hope not... life would be very boring if we were all the same. We are soooo diferent in this world. To say that we would all follow the same religion is a farce. We need our heros and gods and such. They teach us the ethics and morals. Stories are important.

There should be no religion. Atheism is not a religion... it's like calling bald head, colored hair.

You're right about those links but they imply necessity of religion-free world.
