To be frank, priests make much money from gullible people with "campaign promises". Mom's father was a Baptist pastor, so I was taken to his church from birth. The last time I attended it, there were 3 collection plates passed around for regular and specail offering and building fund. When I was a small child, one collection was enough. Grandfather drove modest cars and owned only modest clothing and watches. By now, some preachers want Cadillacs and Rolexes. I buy my own things costlier than this, e.g. Patek Philippe watches that cost 4 times as much as similar Rolexes, but I won't buy any con man a bicycle and a Timex. I see no need for clergy. My grandfather taught school as well as preached. all clergy should have useful jobs and not con anyone with promises of an after life that does not exist, and if it did, no one would like it.

I went to Catholic Churches for a long time until the pedophilia scandal broke about four years ago. My father was a pedophile, and that struck too close to home for me to keep going. I'm still a Christian, although I don't call myself a Catholic any more.
I may start going to an Episcopal Church near my home. As I understand it, their beliefs are similar to mine. I'm not a Biblical literalist, so most churches around here (the Southern US) are out of the question for me. I don't want to hear a sermon on "the evils of evolution" or any similar nonsense.

No. My family is non-observant and moved to a non-Jewish area, so the only synagogue is five miles away, too far to walk on Shabbat because it is "outside the city," which is against halacha. So I just daven at home.

If there was a possiblility to go to a Buddhist temple in The Netherlands I certainly would go every week. But there are only some small meditation and study groups and no monks or temples in The Netherlands... so I cannot go...
