There are lots of ways for transfering data from one computer to another. I find the best way is burning the data on DVD or CD. You can also use USB-Memory pens or external Hard Disks. It's also possible to make a Local Area Network. Also if you don't have too many files then you can upload your files to yahoo or another site and download them (but this is not a good manner, it takes too much time).

All of the previous answers will work fine but you can also purchase easy transfer usb cables. They come with software that you install, then hook the cable up to a usb port on both computers, you choose what you want to transfer and away you go. Check out a company called Belkin, I used one of theirs from an XP pc to Vista pc. I'm sure there are other companies that make them as well.

You could either put all your files onto back up DVDs, that way you will have permanent back ups too, otherwise you could try get hold of an external HDD and transfer them through that. OR if you have a local area connection you could just transfer it through that. Tam*
