This may seem like an odd question, but my manager (who happens to be a women) left me a note after finding some new, clean in a package femenine pads in the back of a drawer at work, " TAKE THESE HOME OR PUT THEM AWAY, GROSS!!! NO ONE WANTS TO SEE THAT."

With that said let me explain why I had them at work. I work at a hotel at the front desk. I get all kinds of weird requests at the front desk, but the most common is, by all means is the femenine pad. So I went to the drugstore and I bought some cheap kind so when women ask me, I give them away (I don't even charge for them because being a woman I understand that problem). The only reason I put my name on them is so they wouldn't be tossed thinking it was a lost and found item.

Well now, I'm really upset because I think the note by my manager was rude and sounds like its coming from an ignorant person. I'm a right to be upset?

By the way, I havent' gotten my chance to explain to the manager. I hardly see her, thus the note. I did leave her a note explaining but I still feel really upset.

AND NOT THE PADS WHERE NOWHERE VISIBLE. THEY WERE IN THE VERY BACK OF A DRAWER.

My manager is not a MAN, she is a WOMAN.

It is extremely rude and inappropriate that he left that note. I hope you saved it so that if he does anything else, you can defend yourself. Inform the HR manager (if there is not one present at the hotel then there should be a number to call). Do not speak to him about the topic until you have spoken with the HR manager, and he / she has told you what to do.

And yes, some guys do think that. My boyfriend thinks it's gross sometimes, and it pisses me off to no end when he mentions it.

The manager acted inappropriately. Maybe you can explain to your manager why you had them in the back of the drawer.

As far as the whole "visit from Aunt Rose" thing, it's not gross, just messy. It can actually be welcomed if a girlfriend has been PMSing very hard the previous few days.

Of course not - people who do (of both sexes) have either not fully matured or have been brought up in the wrong, repressive way, or generally have a problem with bodily functions.
Check that your manager is really a woman, not an alien because she surely acts like one. The fact that you keep your paper tissues in your bag or drawer because your nose may run, just makes you human. I see no difference between that and keeping pads.

No you are not right to be upset. You have nothing to be upset about. It sounds to me as though your boss didn't realise why you were keeping the pads in your desk, and not being a very thoughtful and perhaps not a very preogressive sort of person, flew off the handle.

Maybe you should have a talk with her and make her see that not everyone would find their presence disgusting.

You shouldn't be upset until you talk to her and explain the situation, if she agrees that you did the right thing, no harm no foul. If she still feels that you shouldn't have done that, maybe you want to be upset now. You can't get mad at someone for them reacting to what looks like an obvious scenario. And even if they are for what you said they were for, they still had no business in sight for everyone to see.

I think it is quite thoughtful and above and beyond of you to provide these for the guests - especially since a lot of women's restrooms are no longer stocked with them!! There is nothing gross about menstruation - just a normal human function. Your supervisor does not have good "people skills".
I would have a quiet, private chat with her and try to reach a mutual understanding.

Your boss is just having a bad day. And for her you are an easy target, don't let her get the best of you. And to answer your question we are not gross for menstruating, if we stop having one, there will be no additional population in the planet. Cheers.

Haven't you explained to your manager why you had those pads there? You have been offering a service to the patrons - surely that isn't 'gross'.
