am i able to develope the image straight from the memory card without needing to change it from RAW

you do need to convert raw to another format to edit in photoshop. if you need to do that use an archival format like .psd or .tiff; these formats do not destroy pixel information.
you can print directly from raw. but you need a program that can handle raw files. i use aperture for mac. it is a very nice organization program that also has some powerful color correction software built in. it's not as fancy as photoshop but it handles batch files much better. meaning if you need to make similar changes to a large group of photos you can do it with ease whereas photoshop doesn't do that so well.
think of raw as a digital negative. it is a non-destructive way of preserving digital images captured on a camera. aperture also can convert to the .dng digital negative format which is a standard image format throughout the industry.
sorry i droned on so long but the short answer to your question is 'yes' but you need a program that can process the raw file.

No. You have to convert the picture in a RAW imaging programme. Only the one that came with your camera, or an Adobe or Paintshop plug in can 'see' a raw file.

Raw could get very best quality image ,even you could print up to 16x20 inches of photo.I have used this sizes of 15 prints to apply for my photography exams.Yes, I did it.
