According to Darwin's Theory of Natural Selection, Homo Sapiens Sapiens are not descended from the apes. We are descended from a comman ancestor, much in the same way that you and your cousin are both decsended from your Grandfather, although the time frames involved are a lot longer.

(Gee thanks, Debbie. *blush* :D)

Yes that is a real problem with darwins theroy is it not. Man and chimps do not really have to much in common if you will really study the two. Humans have a different structure for the mussel, the bones and the eyes the ears and well lets just face we and chimps are no more alike then a dog and a cat.
And in fact DNA even supports that there is not a possible or plausable method of a mid species jump. Thus at this point it is just pure simple hog wash. The problems that really exist in the evoluaton camp is not a issue of time nor a issue of possible or plausable events. It is a fact that pure science fields prove them wrong all the time. Examples of this are basic and simple. First off there is no support or evidence that the earth has a stable c14 to c12 rate for the last 3000 years, much less for millions of years. That makes the dating of anything by carbon radios rating useless. Also there is evidence that life as we know it could not have existed only 12,000 years ago do to the gravity of the small planet we live on. Also there is the fact that life produces life and that law is a proven scientific law well established for many years. None life does not produce life. That is a scientific law. Also there is the matter of the fact that this earth has no records of any transitional fossils, yeat they have cave men and dinos. They claim dinos were much older then man. Well if we have these two examples were are the transitional fossels, Simply put they do not exist. And never will. When we speak of such things at species jumps and common ansectors. We should also speak about evidence and real scientific proof. In the case of the animal kingdom there is a build in method of dealing with changes to a gene line, The alpha male will kill that creature out right. Posing the next real problem with man coming from any ansector other then man. Also we should look at the events of this earth. And see it the events support the thinking of the science community. We have more then enough proof that we had a great flood on the earth. Yeat the money pushers can't see it. I am amazed. We also have great evidence of a ice age. They can actually see that one. Man was not here in the ice age. That was when God sealed up the heavens and the world froze. Destorying all life here and bring the end to the age of the dinos. Actually he was destroying a angleic world that existed here. Man can on the stage only 6000 years ago plus or minus a few day. After mans arival God then judged the world with the floor only a short 4500 years ago. For this reason DNA mapping of the human gene pool ended up showing us that all man kind today comes from a few pair of original DNA donors. Like as few as 4 couples. These of course are naoh and his children.
Also there is the population problem that exist. Taken into account the facts of the bible and the expansion rates of the population of the earth. Sociologist derived that the earths population should be exactly as it is today. But if you try that with the nonesence of the ape man movement the earth would have a human on every square inch of the planet. A small problem to say the least. And there is also the problem that man creats and chimps do not. They may get a stick and dig out ants. But that is not building a atomic reactor. So why did the chimps and the apes not die off. Survival of the fittest you know. Which is another lie of moder science. Survival goes to the best equiped to deal with change. Has nothing to do with being fit. Look as man in all his glory. We live on every land mass in the world, In all conditions, And we are the head of the food chain. Are we the fittest. Are we more powerful then the gaint apes, now about a whale, or a elephent. We indeed are more powerful, these are weak minded beast we are there master. They serve us. You will notice apes do not train aniamls. Man has trained all manner of animals. Apes are in all manner of zoos. Also if the dinos had evolved into birds or vise versa. Then were are the transition fossels. They do not exist. And if a goble age killed the large mamuals and the dinos. Then nothing evolved into a bird or from a dino. Because mass ice ages destory all the living that is on the land. It Destoryed the food supply thus all life that is on land died out. Also the life in the sea if there were seas. Would die do the nature of our small planet and how water migrates from land to sea, the land feeding the sea and putting protein into the sea. Which sea life needs to servive. Thus another large problem with ape stupity. It sure is a small world after all.
And if there was a common ansector for human, how about
one for all other species. Well now that is a thought. You do not see the science types telling about other jumps from common ansectors do you. Because it did not happen.

Posting a science question in the religion and spirituality section often means the asker does not really want an answer. His goal is to ask a question that he believes proves some scientific knowledge to be wrong, or that science does not yet answer, and make the implicit claim that the only other explanation is a god, and specifically, the same god he happens to believe in.

It's the "god of the gaps" - intellectually bankrupt, since it favors ignorance instead of knowledge, and because of the contained logical fallacy.

However, on the off chance that you really want to know the answer:

We obviously did not descend from modern apes - you don't think they stopped evolving after speciation, right? that would be silly.

Both humans and modern apes have common ancestors.

The original species doesn't automatically die off as speciation occurs.

Here, these sites will explain everything you want to know:

Because the ancient apes' genes continued
to develop--unlike the dinosaurs, whose genes
actually went the opposite direction, (as it were).
That's why, although creatures such as lizards,
turtles, fish, etc., do have some ties to the pre-
historic reptiles, they are not the monsters that
the dinosaurs were.
But, the prehistoric apes--if the infamous theory
of evolution is to be believed, instead of its
counter claim of creationism--developed over
time into what we now clearly identify as "man-
kind."
Meanwhile, the apes you see you see in zoos
today, can be considered to be the closest living
cousins of the prehistoric ones.

Genetically, our closest relative in the animal kingdom is the finished apes, particularly chimpanzees. Our DNA is about ninety seven-ninety 8% similar with chimps. the theory that we descended from apes is a misconceptions. human beings descended from an uncomplicated ancestor that descended from the finished ape kinfolk. by the way, i ought to particularly come from a creature that has hassle-free experience than a chunk of airborne dirt and dirt.

Current scientific theory doesn't say we descended from apes. It theorizes that both we and apes descended from a common ancestor in the past. Like how say an eagle and a pigeon might have both evolved from the same bird a long time ago.

Hi, the evolutionists will tell you that both Humans and Apes descended from a common ancestor and this is so ridiculous that it is laughable, so where is this so called missing link? we are still waiting for it to turn up but it never will because this is pure fantasy, even many scientists today have given up all hope of ever finding such a creature, if you remove the Creator from history and apply this theory instead you end up trying to answer a mystery with another mystery, and this is what evolutionists are doing.

We're not descended from modern apes, but from an early ape. The modern apes are distant cousins, not distant ancestors.

Do you think you're the first person to come up with this argument? Well, by now I hope you know better. You're not the first. Not by a long shot. And it's a bad argument that gets worse with every repetition. You need to wise up, little girl. Open your eyes and fill your head with real knowledge, not that crap in the bible. Science is real. Religion is make believe.

there are still apes alive today, because of the many different primate species, genus, and familys that evolved since the Tertiary Period 66 mill yrs ago.

Apes are indeed mans early primate ancestors,....... though underwent many, many, changes over many millions of years.
Some of the main periods of this evolution, were the:

a.) Tertiary Period,.............................. 66 mill yrs ago.
b.) Paleocene Period,......................... 57 mill yrs ago.
c.) Eocene Period,............................... 36 millyrs ago.
d.) OliqocenePeriod,............................ 30 mill yrs ago.
e.) and the Miocene Period,................ 23 mill yrs ago.

Hominidae emerged in africa approx 7 mill yrs ago,........ a primate genus of previous primate familys.
From this group came:

1)Homo Erectus 1.6 mill yrs,.. (2) Homo Sapiens 100,000 yrs
3) Neanderthrals 50,000 yrs... (4) Cro Magnon 30,000 yrs.

Modern man began to emerge at No's 3 + No.4. with his earliest primitive ancestors, being traceable all the way back to the Tertiary Period 66 million years ago.

Comparatively,........ modern man is only a teeny 50,000 yrs old and we did indeed evolve from apes and pre historic primates.

If you doubt this:

Paleontologists,
Zoologists,
Bio Chemists,
Molecular Biologists
and Bio Physicists,....... are all able to confirm this for you if you wish.
