When I try to defragment my HDD to try and speed up my laptop, i get the message :

Disk Defragmenter has detected that Chkdsk is scheduled to run on the volume: System (C:)

Please run Chkdsk /f.

What does this mean? Its never happened before!

it means you have to check the disk for errors
it should be scheduled to do one upon restart (per the message)
so restart and try defrag again
