I might let him still trim the hedges, but I really want that 60 hp riding lawnmower. I'm asking because I don't want to face eternal damnation over this issue.

No, he wouldn't care at all. He told me he was getting tired of picking up all the crap in your yard, and he really doesn't want to do the hedges anymore, either. There's a hornet's nest in there and he's tired of using mind control on them to avoid killing all of them with bug spray.
He told me if you didn't do something pretty soon, he was going to bulldoze the hedge and asphalt the yard, so the riding mower sounds like a good idea.
He'd also like $20 more a week if you're going to keep him on. I told him you were kind of cheap, so don't count on it.
