My husband is disabled and I'm a student so money is very tight. I have put myself aside because of no money and depression. Thought someone may have some ideas in the Denver area.

you can ask your doctor for a pharmicutical trial-all medications will be paid for. no one should live with hcv-
i would ask your doctor a bout a trial and see if you qualify for a study.

as far as something that doesn't cost much? the only thing you can do is take milk thistle-this will do two things-
one, it's an anti-inflammatory and thus in return (two) will help lesson the burden on the chronicity of the hcv virus.

those who take milk thistle also find it improves the alt and ast levels, however, that doesn't mean the hcv has cleared as many think it does. it simply lowers your alt and ast levels that seem to be indicative of liver cell cancer formation. (usually have chronicity over a decade or more if you have high enzymes).

diet:
no read meats
no foods or vitamins containing iron
no refined (or as little) sugar
no artificial sugars
no alcohol-not even rubbing alcohol
no over the counter meds or certain prescription meds
don't over due the protein

eat:
chicken once a week
fish twice a week
load up on veggies (watch out for those that contain iron!)
drink water, tea or coffee (unless you have panic attacks that are associated with liver damage).
take a multivitamin without iron (ask the pharmasist!)
low impact exersizing like walking or swimming on days your up to it.

DO not fall victim to flushing, cleansing, or any other herbal concoctions or expensive juices-its all a waste of money and some are potentially dangerous given that hcv has many bi-directional diseases affecting more than that of the liver.

remember: too much of a good thing can be bad and if it sounds too good to be true it probably is!

hugs and i wish you well!
