best search the net or ask your doc.
also sleep aids can get addictive so be careful. use the mildest first and see what happens.
someone recommended benedryl .. that's pretty good stuff actually and cheap too.
and although beer or wine is often forbidden, a 1/2 glass or glass is not that bad .. I cheated when I was on some anti-depressants and had little ill effects. But don't drink much more than that.

Yes, I've been on several different anti depressants and sleeping pills. I'm on Welbutrin now and am doing well, but when I first started it I found I had trouble sleeping. If you only take it once per day, try taking it first thing in the morning, I find that it helps because by the time you go to bed because that dose has partially worn off. Also, cut down on your caffine intake.

Are the anti-depressants pills that you are currently taking being prescribed by a medical specialist?
Some common side effects after taking anti-depressants pills are nausea, loss of appetite, anxiety, nervousness, headache, tiredness, insomnia (the latter is what you are encountering).
Dry mouth, constipation, weight loss, sexual problems, increased heart rate and increased cholesterol levels can also occur.
What I know of is that anti-depressants pills sometimes have to go with mood stabiliser pills.
It's better that you should consult your doctor on your side effect as seek his advise. Take care.

Oh yeah..you definitely can. I had a friend that was on Zoloft and taking trazedone (sp?) at the same time. I'm sure it's safe to take sleeping pills and anti-depressants at the same time.

is sleep disturbance a possible side effect of your medication? do a search on it. I know that many many medications include sleep problems. have you thought of alternatives?
the mind is a very powerful thing, so please do bare with me. one of the best things for depression is walking outside for 20-40 minutes per day three to four days per week, eating healthy (have an alergy test done!), and staying positive.
Wow, there are many other things. If you're curious, email me, otherwise I won't spend all that time.
medications are overused in the u.s.a.

Yes, my husband was prescribed wellbutin and sleeping pills at the same time. Our doctor anticipated him having difficulty sleeping, but so far he hasn't used them.

I recommend you follow Dr Rice's advice - these things do little if anything toward helping depression actually and you're well advised to seek natural therapies than psych ones.

yes just be very carefull, i stopped breathing, turned blue, and my mom was breathing into my mouth until the ambulance... i was on effexor and seraquil... i was also on a very high dose and it could have also been genetic... so ask as many questions to your doctor before you start, make sure you ask him about how much you are taking and if its going to be too much considering your weight, if you start experiencing fainting spells stop immediately... just make sure your doctor knows what they are talking about and if you are still not too sure consalt a physician

If you are on an MAOI, almost nothing is compatible with that, find out what type of anti-depressant you are on, then look up what is compatible with that drug.
