Why people use "LEMON" to describe a car? Any story about it? Thank you!

I think that its because it is nice to look at on the outside but on the inside it is sour. You expect a fruit to be sweet, just like you expect to buy a car and for it to run. When you bite into a lemon though it is sour and makes your face squint up just like when you buy a car and find out its a peice of junk.
