Mormons are Christians. They live what they teach, they are a religion based on service and practicing saving ordinances such as baptizes and temple marriage. They are steadfast in their scripture study both the Bible and Book of Mormon. They have the temples, which I will not talk to much about but the main purpose, is to provide those same saving ordinances for those that are dead.
The Mormons have the gift of the Holy Ghost which helps them follow Christ and gives them direction as to how to live their lives.
They also have a prophet, just like in olden times, and he recives revelations for the church.
Everything I have said is true, they are the stone cut without hands mentioned in the old testament by the prophet Daniel. And they will fill the whole earth.

Well, I think it is safe to say that there is plenty of inaccurate information out there about LDS beliefs, as seen in the first 15 answers or so. Anyways, I've been LDS my entire life and it's really blessed me in many ways. It disappoints me to see that so many people base their opinions on the church according to false information. I guess some are just too lazy to find the truth for themselves.
I believe both the Bible and the Book of Mormon to be the Word of God. I believe in Jesus Christ...that He is the Savior, the Lord, the Redeemer...the Son of God. He has given us the opportunity for Eternal Life. He's the central figure of our faith! I don't get how people can possibly say we aren't Christians.
The "cult" label is even more confusing, because according to the official dictionary definition of a cult, any religious group would be one. But people use it against faiths they don't like to scare others away from it. I challenge any fellow Christian who calls the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints a "cult" to visit our Church one Sunday! I challenge them to see the love. The warmth, The reverence. The Spirit in our Church. The beautiful paintings of Christ in the hallways of the Church buildings, the respectful, moral people, etc...just ONCE! I would love to see the church-bashers experience that one Sunday, and take it all in. And I would like to know afterwards if they witnessed any "cult-like behavior", because in my 18 years as a member, I have seen nothing that resembles that.
It completely baffles me that people truly think that we are a "cult". I think most have no foundation for their argument, other than "Oh, my friend told me", or "I saw it on TV or on the internet". Hardly anyone goes straight to the source anymore.

The prophet Mormon believed interior the literal beginning, dying, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ and that by Him all mankind might return to the father's presence if obedient to the Gospel commandments. So too do all the individuals of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints have confidence.

I have seen many Black Mormons.. but yes, they wouldn't allow the black people to join for a while because they are not good enough... The Mormons have many funky things they believe. I have a Mormon friend. I know allot about these beliefs but so many to type....... here are a few
3 Heavens
you are 'sealed' through a ceremony so you will be with each other in Heaven. ( to me that means you will all be stuck together... everyone)
The Temple is only for Mormons.. they are worthy enough. You have to believe that Joseph Smith is the Prophet that founded the Church
they wear white under garments to protect themselves with symbols embroidered on them
they are to bring babies into the world because these babies are spirit babies
have to be in bed by 10:30
too many to all put down here...

Ignore all the ignorance on this page. Does it not say in the Bible Matt. 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. and in Matt. 7:16 ye shall know them by their fruits. do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? There are people here that don't know anything about us, except what they have so called heard for other non-members or members that did something bad and got excommunicated and want to retaliate against the church. at the end of 2006 there was a total of 12,868,606 members all over the world. We have 53,164 missionaries on missions. no one looks at the good we have done for all of humanity. Ask our troops in Iraq how they liked the thousands of care packages we sent them. And if you know anyone that was alive during the drought that occurred right after the stock market crashed that cause the Great Depression, ask them about the wheat that feed our country and where it came from. Yes, by our fruits you will know us. I know where i stand and i have my Bible and my Book of Mormon firmly in my hand. May God Bless each one of you here that you may be rid of your ignorance.

I was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah and can tell you pretty much anything you would want to know. I am a sixth generation pioneer stalk. I wasn't raised in it by my parents though. But every relative I have is staunch and I have studied it in-depth up close and personal.
They are a satanic cult, read The Kingdom of the Cults by Dr. Walter Martin or see the movie, Temple of the God Makers.

Notice how no one really answered you question? That's because they really don't know... Many christian denomination hate mormons because they can't prove them wrong and the Book of Mormon speaks plainly against paid clergy, needless to say that would offend almost every religion out there, but Mormon.
Here are their basic beliefs...
1 We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost.
2 We believe that men will be punished for their own sins, and not for Adam’s transgression.
3 We believe that through the Atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel.
4 We believe that the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, Repentance; third, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fourth, Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost.
5 We believe that a man must be called of God, by prophecy, and by the laying on of hands by those who are in authority, to preach the Gospel and administer in the ordinances thereof.
6 We believe in the same organization that existed in the Primitive Church, namely, apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, evangelists, and so forth.
7 We believe in the gift of tongues, prophecy, revelation, visions, healing, interpretation of tongues, and so forth.
8 We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God.
9 We believe all that God has revealed, all that He does now reveal, and we believe that He will yet reveal many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God.
10 We believe in the literal gathering of Israel and in the restoration of the Ten Tribes; that Zion (the New Jerusalem) will be built upon the American continent; that Christ will reign personally upon the earth; and, that the earth will be renewed and receive its paradisiacal glory.
11 We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may.
12 We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law.
13 We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul—We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.
Sorry about the length, but it was neccessary after all those terrible answers. The mormon church is the most persecuted church at least by other denominations. Preachers and pastors spread lies during sermons and spend time in classes teaching about other religions they think are false.
P.S. I can answer and clarify all of the false statements that were given to you as answers, but I don't have enough room.
If you have further questions email me...Have a good night! :)
